FAST Racing NEO is built from ground up; focused on the feeling of speed!

This isn’t like part two, it’s a completely different game. It’s built up from the ground – it’s the same engine but we’ve added and changed a huge amount. It looks and feels different and we’ve focused on the feeling of speed. We had a great reaction to FAST – Racing League so we thought it was a good idea to revisit when we started three years ago.

We want to focus on the F-Zero vibes and fast racing, not worrying about pick-ups. It should feel like a rhythm, like Boost-Boost-Boost-pick up. So if you know where the pick-ups and boosts are you can effectively boost all the way around a lap. There’s a lot of depth, such as boosting into or landing on others to spin them around, or boosting while flying to land quicker. There are various things you don’t know in the beginning which don’t necessarily matter until to take on Time Trials or online races. We really want this to be a deeper game, not just a shallow arcade game – though we like arcade games too!

You start off with one cup and three ships. The early ships are easy to use but the heavier ships behave differently and drift, so you have to use strafing and so on. It’s harder but they are faster, for example. So in the single player campaign you unlock different ships that are harder to use but faster, and then you access faster speed classes. The top speed in the expo demo (at EGX) is about 400, but in the fastest ships – it’s too fast for me but I’m told by someone else in the team that it’s good – you go at about 1000. It’s fun for the player to progress and unlock more stuff.

It’s not totally finalised, but there might not be a lot of players online all the time – we hope lots! – so we’re keeping it quite simple. You just choose ships from those unlocked and choose any track you’ve unlocked, then just like in Mario Kart others jump in and you race. You collect points which make up your online score, so you can see if someone’s pretty good or not, and you can try and improve on the leaderboard. We’re keeping it simple for fast races.

The response to E3 was tremendous. That was a first time for us. In the past we’d just make a game and release it, but Nintendo were saying to us “show the game, do something with the people”. It’s so important to show the game, there are so many people surprised to see a new game, so we’re happy to show it and get their reactions. We’re pretty sure we’re on the right track.

We are much more present, doing these shows and showing the game. We’ve really focused on going to shows and showing footage – it’s been almost three years of development and it’s been the biggest production for us. We’re sure it’ll pay off.

Form a Legendary Team of Heroes in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes!

VANCOUVER, B.C., October 22, 2015 – It’s dangerous to go alone … so don’t! In The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, available for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on October 23, three heroes must form a legendary trio to tackle dungeons and defeat bosses together as a team. Presented in the same top-down style as the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, players solve inventive puzzles and dress Link in a range of outfits to enable new abilities that enhance their adventure. While playing the game with three players is part of the fun, the adventure can also be taken on solo, allowing all players to dive into the experience at any place and any time.

“We are constantly transforming our most iconic franchises to give players unique gaming experiences,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is one of many games launching this year that presents beloved characters in unexpected new game-play settings.”

Players can journey through the numerous levels of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes in multiple ways. In addition to playing the game’s 32 stages across eight areas solo with two statue-like figures called “Doppels,” they can also play via local wireless or use a wireless broadband Internet connection to go online in multiplayer mode with two other heroic players who also own the game. Players can choose to team up with any combination of players who are or are not part of their Nintendo 3DS friends list. With Download Play, players can connect locally with two other friends who own a system in the Nintendo 3DS family, even if only one person has the game. Only by working as a team will players be able to progress through the various hazards awaiting them on their perilous journey. And by using fun emoticons on the touch screen, players not playing together in the same room can quickly and easily communicate with each other. The multiplayer Coliseum mode also lets players battle one or two other heroes, wearing the outfits that they have collected during their adventure.

The adventure will take players through fiery volcanoes, icy caverns and beyond, with each new dungeon cleverly designed to be completed by three heroes. Co-operation is key. For the first time in The Legend of Zelda series, players can stack two or three Link characters on top of each other using a new Totem mechanic to solve multi-level puzzles and reach enemies’ weak spots. This new mechanic is one of many ways the three heroes can interact together to conquer the challenges that face them head(s) on. All three Link characters share the same heart gauge, so it pays to help each other. How players work together to clear each dungeon and reap the rewards is part of the experience!

Collecting and changing outfits in the game is not just for showing off Link’s fashion prowess – each of the outfits in the game comes with its own special abilities that help the three Link characters solve puzzles and navigate difficult terrain. For example, the “Goron Garb” allows Link to swim in lava, while the “Kokiri Clothes” let him shoot three arrows instead of one. By switching between different outfits before entering a dungeon, all three players can bring vital abilities to each new area. Players can create different outfits using materials that they collect by completing the game’s levels.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop in Nintendo 3DS on October 23 at a suggested retail price of $49.99. In addition, a Hyrule Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL system will launch exclusively in EB Games stores on October 30 at a suggested retail price of $259.99. The system (which does not include the game) is gold-coloured and features an intricate Hylian Crest on the front.

Renegade Kid announces price for Dementium Remastered on 3DS; talks about some of the improvements!

Yes, I am extremely excited about Dementium Remastered. Feels great to have it wrapped up. Price wise, the game will be $14.99 and will release in North America as soon as it can!
I think players are going to really enjoy the game, and those who are familiar with the original DS release will hopefully appreciate the improvements we have made. We approached the remastering process in a way that retained the essence of what made the original game so special, but we did not view it through rose-tinted glasses. We did not let tradition, legacy or ego hold us back from making significant improvements that we feel bring the game up to par with modern gaming experiences.
Two of the most impactful changes that affect the gameplay experience are no respawning enemies and manual save spots. In hindsight, this was unintentional difficulty in the original release, and presented unfair difficulty – not something I am a fan of. As such, this makes the new experience a more digestible and balanced experience – but it also makes it easier. This is great news for most players, but the hardcore players out there who want something they can sink their teeth into will be happy to hear that we also added two difficulty settings above “Normal”, in the form of “Hard” and “Demented”.
The art has been completely overhauled. Renegade Kid’s art director, Gregg Hargrove, and our Technical Director, Bob Ives, have implemented a wealth of new tricks to our toolbox, which enable us to utilize such delights as normal maps and detail maps that were not possible on the original Nintendo DS. Much of the geometry in the blood-stained corridors and gnarled enemies has also been redone, with higher polygon counts to present more definition and character to the visual presentation. It is disgustingly beautiful.
Another area of gameplay that we have focused on is how the weapons handle in terms of ammo and reloading. The system in the original game was kinda of strange. We have modernized this aspect for Dementium Remastered. This is something that will feel natural to new players, and improved for fans of the original.
Dementium Remastered runs at 60 frames per second on the regular 3DS with 3D on. It also supports the Circle Pad Pro and second analog nub on the New 3DS. Much like Moon Chronicles, the game offers a wealth of control options, including different button configurations and aim sensitivity adjustments.
