The End Is Nigh arrives Dec 12th on Nintendo Switch!
SANTA ANA, Calif., November 13, 2017—We don’t yet know when the apocalypse will take place, but we do know the exact date on which Nicalis, Inc., will release its next great video game, The End Is Nigh. The super-challenging retro-inspired action/platformer will be available on December 12 as both a physical retail package and a digital download from the Nintendo eShop.
The End Is Nigh is the newest game from award-winning designer Edmund McMillen, creator of indie-game sensations like The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy. It stars Ash, a little anthropomorphic globule who sets out to find himself a friend in the aftermath of a global catastrophic event. Ash must avoid mutated monsters, lethal hazards and deadly pitfalls as he navigates the wasteland, picking up collectable tumors and playable mini-game cartridges along the way.
“The key themes are survival and the basic human need for friendship,” says Nicalis president Tyrone Rodriguez. “But The End Is Nigh is also a parable about persistence, facing adversity and maintaining a positive attitude in unbelievably stressful situations. You get a rush of pride and delirious satisfaction every time you clear a screen.”
There’s no life counter in The End Is Nigh; you’re free to try and fail as many times as it takes to conquer each challenge. Ash’s plight is accented by the game’s dramatic soundtrack, a collection of classical music themes arranged by the fan-favorite game music composition team known as Ridiculon.
The End Is Nigh will continue the Nicalis tradition of high-quality physical packaging with fun and collectable bonus items inside the game box. The initial print run of retail copies will include the Game Card along with a full-color instruction booklet and a squishy Ash toy made of sticky silicone. Squishy Ash makes a fine friend and can recreate scenes from the game by clinging to walls and dropping into crevices in your own home.
Developed and published by Nicalis, Inc., The End Is Nigh will be available for Nintendo Switch on December 12 as both a physical retail release (in North America) and a digital download from the Nintendo eShop (in both North America and Europe). Suggested retail price is $29.99 (NA) or 29,99€ (EU). The game has been rated M by the ESRB.

Frozenbyte Provides Free Content Expansion To Has-Been Heroes!
The expansion adds tons of new content for players to discover and includes the Trine heroes – Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief – as playable characters once you have unlocked the Epic Quest mode. The Epic Quest mode will be a true test of skill for the most veteran players as the heroes have no starting spells! Complete with custom animations (Amadeus attacks with a box!) and beautiful 2D visuals in the style of Has-Been Heroes, the Trine heroes definitely need to perform some heroic deeds to complete this quest from another universe!
We’ve also added a new region to the main game called the Sky Temple. Each Sky Temple run will include unique twists, new enemies and new bosses!
Updates to the main game include:
* 8 Young Heroes to unlock
* New “Sky Temple” region
* 120+ new spells
* 150+ new itemsFor players looking for another challenge, the expansion also brings two new game modes: “Challenge Mode” and “Seed Mode”. Challenge mode is a single difficult battle with pre-set loadout of characters, items, and spells. By completing a Challenge players unlock a new Young Hero. Seed mode allows players to share a seed number with friends and play the exact same game/run with a timer upon completion. Use this to host a competition between you and your friends and compare strategy.
—
I also want to post this message from us developers:
We are grateful that so many people have enjoyed the game and despite some of the criticism, we feel that we succeeded in making the game we wanted to make. Has-Been Heroes is tough but also a lot of fun when you understand the mechanics. Maybe we would do certain things a little differently, and we’d try to ease in the player (and reviewers) a lot better, but as far as the core game and gameplay mechanics, we’re happy. It’s been fun to see that a lot of you have been too!
So a big thank you to everybody who’s bought and enjoyed the game, it means a lot to us!
The free expansion is our way to thank you back, we started working on it in the spring and summer, and what started out as “let’s do a little bit of extra content” turned out to be a pretty major content add-on. Actually at some point we thought we should put a price on it, but after a while we figured that we rather have everybody have access to the same content and new features.
I hope this expansion gives everyone playing some hours of additional fun – or in other words, another 100 hours? 🙂 In addition to that, from a development standpoint this was a handy way for us to keep the team together “in-between” projects. A lot of the guys and gals who were on the Has-Been Heroes team are now working on our next game, Nine Parchments, coming out by the end of the year, and the experience we gained on working on Nintendo Switch has been super helpful with Nine Parchments too.
So in summary, thank you to everyone out there reading this and playing the game! We hope you continue to have fun. 🙂

Nintendo Spotlights Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before it’s December 1st launch!
VANCOUVER B.C., – In just a few weeks, Nintendo Switch owners will leave the familiar behind and enter the fantastical world of Alrest – a world full of living lands known as Titans and the fabled paradise of Elysium. To get fans ready for the Dec. 1 launch of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game, Nintendo presented a deep dive into elements of the massive game, including the vast environments, battle system and characters. This special Nintendo Direct presentation also revealed upcoming paid DLC, a fun cross-promotion with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as well as free DLC available to download on launch day that will allow players to also play the game with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
“With Xenoblade Chronicles 2, we are giving fans yet another engaging adventure that can only be found on Nintendo Switch,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “This sequel is perfect for playing at home or while traveling during the busy holiday season.”
To view the Nintendo Direct video in its entirety, visit http://xenobladechronicles2.ni
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is next in the series following the original acclaimed RPG that launched for Wii in 2012. This sequel features new characters and worlds, with an expanded battle system that will still feel familiar to fans of the first game. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Blades are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers to lend them their weapons and powers in battle. Main character Rex is a Driver and Pyra is a Blade. To help familiarize fans with main character Rex before the game launches, a new Side Quest will be available via a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game for both Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems, in which players will be able to obtain a Rex costume starting on Nov. 9.
In and out of battle, Blades have a wide array of support abilities. While adventuring, these abilities might increase the number of items that can be collected, open up new paths to explore or initiate other special effects. When players fight alongside their chosen Blade, they might trigger effects that protect the Driver, strengthen attacks and so forth. Abilities differ from Blade to Blade, so selecting different Blades adds to the strategy of battle.
Blades are just one form of life that players will encounter while journeying on the backs of the mighty Titans. In the vast world of Alrest, players will discover both peaceful and aggressive wildlife of all shapes and sizes wandering among giant plains, winding caverns, frozen kingdoms, scorched earth and sandy beaches. If players manage to defeat certain Unique Beasts, a tombstone will be left behind to commemorate the creature and allow players to relive those battles for additional rewards.
While traveling the massive world of Alrest, players will run into shining spots called Collection Points – which give players the opportunity to pick up valuable items or dive under the clouds to salvage hard-to-find treasures – or special landmarks that players can transport to at any time. Alrest is also teeming with bustling cities. From shopping districts to residential quarters, each Titan has its own unique layout and atmosphere.
Fans who want to expand their epic adventure can pre-purchase an Expansion Pass for the game in Nintendo eShop beginning today or pre-order it from select retailers shortly at a suggested retail price of $38.69. With this pass, players can enjoy DLC as it releases between the launch of the game and fall 2018, starting with quests and support items, and eventually including a challenge Battle Mode where they can face powerful enemies. This DLC will even include an additional adventure with a new side story set in the world of Elysium. Details about individual elements of the Expansion Pass will be released in the future.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system on Dec. 1 at a suggested retail price of $79.99. The same day, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will launch at a suggested retail price of $99.99. Launch day will also see the release of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Special Edition. This special version includes the game, a beautifully illustrated hardbound art book filled with 220 pages of concept designs and artwork of the characters, landscapes and objects from the game, a sound-selection CD of many of the game’s memorable music tracks, and a special metal case containing the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 game card at a suggested retail price of $129.99. Players who prefer the digital version can pre-purchase the game from Nintendo eShop now, either standalone or as a bundle with the Expansion Pass.

Ittle Dew 2+ comes Nov 14th to Nintendo Switch!
SANTA ANA, Calif., October 31, 2017—Nicalis, Inc., the developer and publisher of Nintendo Switch hits like The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, Cave Story+ and Tiny Barbarian DX, is proud to announce its next great game, Ittle Dew 2+. The charming “puzzly adventure” will be available on November 14 as both a physical retail and digital release for the Switch.
Continuing the saga of sassy adventurer Ittle Dew and her deadpan sidekick (the flying fox named Tippsie), Ittle Dew 2+ is a sprawling action-adventure game that takes place entirely on a mysterious, faraway island. Left stranded on the shore after their raft breaks, Ittle and Tippsie explore the terrain in search of treasure, weapons, puzzle-solving tools and the eight scattered pieces of another raft that can allow them to escape the island.
“If you’re expecting a Zelda-inspired game like the original Ittle Dew, you’ll find that there are plenty of similarities,” says Nicalis president Tyrone Rodriguez. “But Ittle Dew 2+ offers so much more. It’s cuter, it’s funnier, the puzzles are more devious and there are secrets everywhere…in fact, the island is loaded with them!”
Ittle Dew 2+ will continue the tradition of added-value packaging that has made Nicalis games the most highly collectable properties in the Nintendo Switch library. The initial print run of physical retail copies will include the Game Card along with a full-color instruction booklet and a limited-edition map of the island. The map is printed on tear-resistant and weatherproof synthetic paper that has been specially formulated to endure the rigors of the island’s hazards and unpredictable storm patterns.
Developed by Ludosity AB with Nicalis, Inc., Ittle Dew 2+ will be available for Nintendo Switch on November 14 as both a physical retail release (in North America) and a digital download from the Nintendo eShop (in both North America and Europe). Suggested retail price is $29.99 (NA) or 29,99€ (EU). The game has been rated E10+ by the ESRB.
