Review of RCMADIAX’s Avoider!
Here’s our video review of Avoider by RCMADIAX for the Nintendo Wii U.
Gray Fin Studios bringing their twin-stick shooter, Dual Core, to the Nintendo Wii U!
Dual Core is a vibrant, futuristic, “twin-stick” style, shooter, with a strong focus on local co-op multiplayer (up to 4 players). Lots of robots, lots of lasers, lots of aliens, lots of explosions! The numerous retro arcade influences are front and center, but spiced up with a colorful modern style, a generous helping of sci-fi intrigue, and a dash of RPG ELEMENTS! This isn’t an arena shooter (though there is an arena-style arcade mode); there’s a full story mode with a ton of handcrafted levels to explore, and battle through.
Dual Core has been in development for several years now, and originally was conceived as a mobile/tablet game – however, somewhere along the line, I realized that very few of my favorite games were actually on mobile devices, *most* of them were in fact, on the Wii U, and usually because of the local multiplayer. So I decided to trust my instincts and that became the focus – our goal is to get players having a blast, working together, laughing, and (occasionally) yelling at the each other! One of my fondest gaming memories was playing co-op Gauntlet as a kid, and that’s still a strong influence today.
But it’s not just multiplayer – even in single player, you don’t play alone; your robot buddy “Corby” sticks with you, and battles by your side through the whole game. So in a way, it’s co-op multiplayer, even when it’s not.

Wolf Brew Games delays release of their platformer, Slain; needs to lower game difficulty!
Wolf Brew Games and Digerati Distribution has announced Slain! has been delayed and will now launch on March 24.
According to an update submitted to Shacknews, Wolf Brew Games has admitted Slain! needs a few last-minute tweaks as the developer deems the game is just too difficult at this point. “Right now no mortal man or woman could possibly get past Slain!’s intense platforming, traps and monstrosities,” Wolf Brew Games shares.
Slain! is also expected to release on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita in May 2016. Hopefully its PC delay won’t have an effect on its console release.
[Update: A PR representative for Slain! confirmed the console versions of the game will also be delayed as a result of its PC delay. In a statement submitted to Shacknews, the PR representative tells us the console versions will now release “1-3 months” after the PC version. Seeing how we expected the console versions to release in May 2016, this now means it should now be expected to release somewhere between May 2016 to July 2016.]

Temple of Yog update patch 1.1 releasing in February; includes bug fixes and new content!
It’s been a little over a month since we launched the First Epoch of TEMPLE OF YOG and we couldn’t be happier with the response from players across the world! Great reviews, streams, fan art, and even walkthroughs have made us a happy crew. We’re working hard on the next content release (The Second Epoch), and have great stuff in store for that, but I wanted to give you a heads up on something coming soon.
TEMPLE OF YOG version 1.1 is currently submitted for approval. This update fixes some bugs folks have found, but also introduces some great new content. We expect this to hit the Nintendo eShop mid February.
Here’s what is in store:
- GLOBAL SCREEN SWAP: The first version of TEMPLE OF YOG only allowed Off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad while in the dungeon. We’ve extended this functionality across the board so you can view Light and Shadow realms on either screen at any time.
- IMPROVED COLLISION DETECTION: No more wandering Wargs and sprinting Spiders climbing through hedges! This was a pretty common complaint and we’re glad to knock it out early in the release cycle.
- SPAWN REFINEMENT: Tributes would sometimes get ambushed when teleporting into a new level or be trapped in an object or hedge. No more! The dungeon generation algorithm has been significantly improved to remove this unwanted behavior.
- NEW ENEMY TYPE: WASP: A new flyer enemy is in the Wilderness and ready to attack: the Wasp! These pesky bugs spawn from a ground nest, which will keep generating drones until you destroy the source.
- MORE QUESTS: We added new quests related to wasps and also made all top rank quests repeatable!
- IMPROVED UI: Ever wonder how many points an enemy was worth? Wonder no more; we’ve added a new Boon Point display animation! Every time you collect BP you’ll know exactly how much sacrifice you’re earning. The dungeon meter has also been updates to be colorblind safe.
- IMPROVED ENEMY AI: Think you’re safe sniping away at creatures? No longer! Enemies will now respond to your long-range bolt throwing.
- POST-WILDERNESS TIMES: Currently, after conquering the Wilderness and entering the Age of the Plow, you can continue to fight the Guardian of the Wilderness, but defeating them a second time will lock up the save slot. This has been fixed in the new update in a pretty kickass way: once you conquer the Wilderness, you’ve truly conquered it. It will not grow back. Your tributes come in and fight at the highest rank of the zone, endlessly! See how long you can survive and bring on the high scores!
- DUNGEON UPGRADE ROOM: This one is my favorite! There is a new room to discover where you can upgrade your tribute’s damage, movement, attack delay, and even multiply your collected boon points! All these per tribute upgrades come at a cost, though; spend boon while in the dungeon and your village misses out.

Arcane Four Studios ready to bring Rynn’s Adventure to Wii U; waiting for Nintendo certification!
Rynn’s Adventure: Trouble In The Enchanted Forest is a charming looking indie platformer from Arcane Four Studios. Originally planned for release late last year, the game obviously missed that deadline – but development on the game is now reportedly complete. Currently the developers are working to get certification on Wii U (and Xbox One), so once that is achieved, a release should soon follow. A 3DS version is planned for the future once the Wii U port is released.\
