Tunnel of Doom is Coming to Nintendo Switch in Q2 2021!

14 January, 2021 – Indie publisher Digerati is delighted to announce Tunnel of Doom – an easy-to-pick-up action rogue-lite that combines real-time tower defense with melee and ranged combat gameplay. Tunnel of Doom will launch Q2 2021 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One (backwards compatible with Xbox Series X/S).

PC players will be able to try Tunnel of Doom before its launch, thanks to an upcoming open beta, which is scheduled to run 29 Jan – 1 Feb. To participate in the beta, players can sign-up now at the following link: https://www.digerati.games/tunnelbeta

Tunnel of Doom is the second game from Helsinki-based developer, Antti Vaihia. After finishing work on his previous project, a 2D arena shooter called Gun Bombers, Vaihia was desperate to start on something new:

“My debut title left a void in my life. I needed another fix to feed the addiction. Luckily, I stumbled upon a tweet from Jan Willem Nijman (Vlambeer) about simple random level generation,” explains Vaihia. “After toying around with this mechanic, I started to imagine the kind of game it could inspire. Sticking with the mining theme of my previous game I set forth to put my own spin to the rogue-lite scene. It’s been a blast. Cheers to you Jan!”

About the game

Tunnel of Doom is an action rogue-lite hybrid that mixes tower defense with melee and ranged combat gameplay. Randomly generated, every run is different as you guide Angel on a quest to rescue her husband. Gather resources, discover perks, and use what you find to battle waves of monsters.

Key features

  • Set Traps: It’s you against the hordes! Boost your chances of success and survival by strategically positioning cannons and barricades before battles begin.
  • Gather Resources: Smash lamps. Destroy crates. Blow up rocks. Search the mine for materials that can be used as makeshift weapons or ammunition for traps.
  • Weapon Combat: If your revolver or rifle ammo is running low… improvise! Throw rocks or glass. Swing your pickaxe. Break out the TNT. Do what it takes to avoid being mobbed by the monsters!
  • Find Perks: Better traps. Improved weapons. More resources. There are 50 perks to discover, each offering an array of stat boosts and gameplay tweaks.
  • Randomly Generated: The layout of the mine, perks, and monster battles change with each new game, meaning every run is different!
  • Dream Mode: Escape the mine to unlock this new, endless challenge.

Tunnel of Doom takes place in 1903 at Goldcrest, a small mining town. Due to an unknown incident, the mayor has shut down the mine until further notice. With her husband trapped inside, Angel enters the mine to investigate and search for survivors. Little does she know, hordes of ghoulish creatures are lurking in the darkness…

Sonic the Hedgehog Races onto Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Alongside a Brand-New Boss Raid Mode!

IRVINE, Calif. – January 14, 2021 – SEGA is proud to announce that Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, sequel to the beloved crossover of two iconic puzzle series, is receiving the first of its free, post-launch content updates today on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch!

To further light up the colorful puzzle play, players can look forward to a host of new characters, a fresh new game mode, four new BGM (Background Music) tracks, and 20 new player avatars, all detailed below! All this new content will be available to players immediately after they download and install the new update.

  • Four new playable characters to join you on your journey: legendary speedster Sonic the Hedgehog, Lidelle, Ms. Accord and The Ocean Prince, each with their own skills you can utilize in Skill Battle mode
  • New online game mode Boss Raid has you working together with your friends to take down a common foe in co-operative fun
  • Four new BGM (Background Music) tracks including the Sonic the Hedgehog theme song for ultimate immersion as you play
  • 20 new Avatars featuring even more of your favorite Puyo Puyo characters you can use to customize your player profile

As a friendly PSA, players must be on the same version of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 to play online together, so we recommend everyone to update to the latest patch to ensure compatibility.

Sonic the Hedgehog Dashes onto Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 in an Expanded Roster

An already-robust cast grows even larger starting today with four new playable characters joining the game. First up is a special guest from SEGA’s flagship series who needs no introduction, Sonic the Hedgehog! The speedy blue hedgehog lives life by his own rules. He hates dishonesty and injustice, and he’s not afraid to fight for what’s right.

Ms. Accord is a teacher of the Primp Magic School. Though gentle and kind, she’s known to prepare rather peculiar lesson plans. While she only played a minor role in the original Puyo Puyo Tetris, this update marks the first time Ms. Accord will appear as a playable character in a localized release since Puyo Pop Fever.

Next up is Lidelle, a student of Primp Magic School. Known to be mild-mannered and soft-spoken, she is also very shy and hides her horns by wrapping them with her hair. While sharing no blood relation, she considers Dark Prince and Draco her big brother and sister.

Finally, The Ocean Prince is, what else, the prince of the sea, a royal who can be pretty selfish without realizing it. He sometimes takes a human form when he uses a particular spell. Like Ms. Accord and Lidelle, this will mark his first playable appearance since Puyo Pop Fever after making a cameo in Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Team Up for Boss Raid

The new online Boss Raid mode allows you to call upon three of your friends to aid you in your quest to take down a fierce CPU-controlled boss. In addition, for those playing on the Nintendo Switch, you can also cozy up for some couch co-op using the Switch’s local wireless multiplayer.

Following the rules of Skill Battle mode, players will create their team from the now-expanded roster of characters and choosing a party with complementary skills is key to a winning strategy. As you play, you’ll pop Puyos and clear Tetriminos, shaking Garbage Puyos loose and causing the boss to lose HP. If their HP hits 0, you win!

  • Play according to your own skill level by adjusting the difficulty level: as you increase the difficulty, you’ll add on the number of bosses you’ll have to fight in a row; higher difficulties will have different level requirements, so make sure your team has the strength to survive this challenging gauntlet
  • Chance Time can occur when players face random conditions during raids (e.g., inflict X damage at once, survive for X seconds), which upon being fulfilled, inflicts major damage on the boss
  • Bosses have unique skills to keep players on their toes, like Paralyze which stops the player from being able to rotate their pieces for a short time, adding an exciting twist to each battle
  • Item Cards and experience points can be earned from Boss Raids, with better rewards for higher difficulties. Players can use these Item Cards to equip their team of three in the Skill Battle Mode

Players can now access a free demo on Nintendo Switch to experience Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, but hurry as it’s only available for a limited amount of time.

Sword of the Necromancer Releases its Third and Final Dev Diary!

Barcelona, Spain – January 14th, 2021 – Game developers JanduSoft S.L and Grimorio of Games have released the third and final Developer Diary for their impending monster summoning action roguelike Sword of the Necromancer, ahead of its launch this January 28th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This video delves into the inspirations behind the story and lore of their impending monster summoning dungeon-crawler. All three dev diaries are available on the Grimorio of Games YouTube channel where the development team provides in-depth behind the scenes peeks into the making of Sword of the Necromancer.

Sword of the Necromancer is a dungeon-crawler action-RPG with roguelike elements where you can revive your defeated enemies to make them fight alongside you. Turn your foes into allies using the forbidden powers of the Sword of the Necromancer and help the rogue Tama reach the dungeon’s depths to summon enough power to bring her beloved priestess Koko back from the dead. Assemble a small army of monsters, equip yourself with weapons and relics, and level up to take on the guardians that stand between you and your goal.

Each attempt gets you closer to the Necromancer. Upon death you’ll lose all your equipped weapons and monsters, but you will retain part of the level you achieved in your run. As you scour deeper through the dungeon you’ll uncover more of Tama and Koko’s past. Don’t want to go it alone? Then use the Flask of Homunculus to create a copy of yourself and play with a friend in local co-op! Additionally, there are IR codes that can be scanned to make the game easier. Or harder. The choice is yours!

Super Meat Boy Forever is Now Available on Nintendo Switch!

Redmond, Washington, December 23rd, 2020 – Super Meat Boy Forever, Team Meat’s long, long awaited sequel to 2010’s runaway platforming hit Super Meat Boy, has finally made its debut on the Nintendo Switch eShop and Epic Games Store, where it costs $19.99 / £15.99  / €15.99. PlayStation and Xbox versions will follow in approximately one month.

This much anticipated sequel also moves the Meat Boy saga forward, as Meat Boy and his partner Bandage Girl have had a child, Nugget, who has unfortunately been kidnapped by the sinister stillborn psychopath, Dr. Fetus (I hate that guy!). So now it’s up to Meat Boy, Bandage Girl, and some surprising new characters in the Meat Boy Cinematic Universe, to rescue the kidnapped child.

In the time since we saw him last, Meat Boy has been hitting the gym and he now packs a punch with an oversized, Battletoads-esque right fist that packs a mean whollup! Combined with new slide and plummet maneuvers, Meat Boy is more agile than ever!

What’s better than playing through Super Meat Boy Forever once? The answer is simple: Playing through Super Meat Boy Forever several times and having new levels to play each time! Levels are randomly generated and each time the game is completed the option to replay the game appears and generates a whole new experience by presenting different levels with their own unique secret locations. We’ve handcrafted literally thousands of levels for players to enjoy and conquer. You can replay Super Meat Boy Forever from start to finish several times before ever seeing a duplicate level. It is truly a remarkable feat of engineering and a monumental example of ignoring the limits of rational game design and production.

“It seemed like this day would never come, but after over a decade Super Meat Boy has a fully fledged sequel that takes everything people loved about the original, but makes it meatier and more super,” said Team Meat co-founder and programmer Tommy Refenes. “I knew I didn’t want to release a sequel that was simply more of the same, so Super Meat Boy Forever rethinks the entirety of how the game works, from the controls, to your moveset, to the new power-ups. It’s a completely different experience that still fundamentally feels like Meat Boy. And with its thousands of randomly generated challenges, you can literally play it forever!”
