Minecraft: Wii U Edition now available in stores!

VANCOUVER, B.C., June 20, 2016 – Being able to buy the boxed version of the Minecraft: Wii U Edition game in stores at a suggested retail price of only $29.99 is great news. Even better news? This retail version of the game comes with the same popular Minecraft add-on content packs included in the Nintendo eShop version of the game on the disc at no extra charge. This includes the recently released Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, which adds elements from the Super Mario series to the game.

“Even more Nintendo fans are going to love discovering the worldwide phenomenon of Minecraft on Wii U,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “The retail version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition is great for any video game fan that wants to get creative and see what the Minecraft phenomenon is all about.”

The Wii U version of Minecraft features the full game, as well as many of the most popular previously released content packs. These include:

The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack is only available in Minecraft: Wii U Edition. All the world and item textures in the game will also be redone, providing players the opportunity to create their own Super Mario-themed locations within the world of Minecraft. Two Beloved Video Game Franchises Collide In The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack For Minecraft: Wii U Edition!

VANCOUVER, B.C., May 9, 2016 – In a match made in block-shaped heaven, Nintendo is partnering with Mojang and Microsoft to bring the imaginative worlds of Super Mario Bros. and Minecraft together. For the first time ever, players will be able to fend off blocky Hammer Bros. and Dry Bones the same way they do Creepers and Zombies.

On May 17, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack comes to Minecraft: Wii U Edition as a free game update. After downloading the update, players who own the Minecraft: Wii U Edition digital game which launched last December will have immediate access to new skins, a Super Mario-themed pre-made world, and a set of Super Mario-themed music and item textures, all inspired by games in the iconic Super Mario Bros. series such as Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. When the retail version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition launches in stores on June 17 at a suggested retail price of $29.99, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will be included on the disc.

Best-Selling Sandbox Game Minecraft Heads to Nintendo’s Wii U Console!

VANCOUVER, B.C., December 7, 2015 – Mojang’s video game phenomenon Minecraft launches worldwide on Nintendo’s Wii U home console on December 17. Minecraft: Wii U Edition comes with multiple add-on content packs, and will be available in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U in North America for $29.99. Nintendo and Mojang are also collaborating on new content for Nintendo fans to be released at a future date. More details about this content will be released at a later time.

The game will feature off-TV play, so players can keep their games going on the screen of the Wii U GamePad controller if another family member wants to watch something else on TV. The game also comes with some of the most popular current Minecraft add-on content packs:
