CRYSTAL CRISIS Drops Today on Nintendo Switch!
SANTA ANA, California, May 28, 2019 — Nicalis, Inc. today announced that Crystal Crisis, the cute and chaotic new color-matching combat game, is available now on Nintendo Switch. Developed and published by Nicalis, Crystal Crisis is an all-new head-to-head puzzle-battle throwdown: Players arrange falling Crystals into matching colors and shatter them to attack their opponents.
Crystal Crisis players can choose from 20 different combatants, including Nicalis favorites like Quote and Curly from Cave Story and Isaac from The Binding of Isaac, in addition to special guests like Astro Boy and Black Jack from Tezuka Productions. Each character has his or her own “home” stage, musical theme, voice-acted exclamations and special moves called “Bursts.” Players will need to build up their character’s Burst Gauge before they can deliver a powerful Attack Burst or rearrange their own Crystal grid with a Defense Burst.
A variety of single-player gameplay modes (including Story, Arcade, Tag Team, Survival, Training and more) accentuate the battle options, while local and online multiplayer functionality give challengers the opportunity to play against friends, family members and Crystal Crisis fighters worldwide. The onscreen Crystal colors can also be configured to make the game accessible for players with color blindness.
Crystal Crisis for Nintendo Switch is rated E10+ by the ESRB and is available now as a digital download ($29.99 MSRP) or physical retail version ($39.99 MSRP). A PlayStation 4 version will also be available very soon.

Previously announced for Nintendo Switch, the game will now see simultaneous releases on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Crystal Crisis
Developed and published by Nicalis, Crystal Crisis is presented like a traditional fighting game, but instead of pressing buttons to kick and punch, competitors arrange falling crystals into matching colors to clear them from the screen and inflict attacks on their opponents. In this star-studded crossover puzzle game, players can choose from 19 different playable characters, including fan favorites from Cave Story, The Binding of Isaac, Tezuka Productions and many other surprise entrants. The End Is Nigh
From The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, The End Is Nigh is an action platforming game where players take control of Ash, one of the few “things” that have “survived” the “end of the world.” Follow Ash as he flops his way through a future of pain and suffering. Feel his stress levels rise as he is thrown into an endless swarm of decaying, mutant animal-like creatures before arriving at his final epic quest: to simply make a friend (out of pieces of people he finds along his journey).Dungreed
Developed by Team Horay, Dungreed lets players assume the role of an adventurer who must explore a continuously evolving dungeon in order to prevent the town from being destroyed. The game features a variety of environments such as prisons, jungles and lava zones. Players can defeat enemies and advance through the dungeon using powerful magic items and an arsenal of weapons, ranging from rusty swords to cutting-edge sniper rifles.About Nicalis, Inc.

Crystal Crisis Drops Gem-Blasting Action Onto Nintendo Switch This Fall!
SANTA ANA, California, May 10, 2018—Nicalis, Inc. today announced that Crystal Crisis, a cute and colorful new color-matching combat game, is coming to Nintendo SwitchTM in the fall of 2018. Developed and published by Nicalis, Crystal Crisis is presented like a one-on-one fighting game, but instead of pressing buttons to kick and punch, players arrange falling gems into matching colors to clear them from the screen and inflict damage on their opponents. It’s the ultimate puzzle battle throwdown!
Crystal Crisis players can choose from 19 different playable characters, including fan favorites from Cave Story and The Binding of Isaac and many other surprise entrants. Each character has his or her own “home” stage, musical theme, unique special attacks and extensive voice-acted exclamations. The current roster includes:
- Quote, Curly Brace and Ballos (from Cave Story)
- Isaac (from The Binding of Isaac)
- Atom and Black Jack (from Tezuka Productions)
- Princess Solange (from Code of Princess EX and Blade Strangers)
- Aban, Tina and Jim Hawkins (from 1001 Spikes)
- President Thompson and a Zombie (from The Tempura of the Dead)
- Akuji (from Akuji the Demon)
- Knight (from Hydra Castle Labyrinth)
- Johnny Turbo (notorious TurboDuo spokesman)
The line-up also features four newly-created characters from other Nicalis games in development, three of whom are appearing for the first time anywhere in Crystal Crisis:
- Helen – a noble warrior inspired by Greek mythology (also appearing in Blade Strangers)
- Hunter – a whip-wielding vampire killer
- Elise – a bat-winged gothic vampire girl
- Ninja – a mysterious and acrobatic shinobi
By matching gems and unleashing combos in Crystal Crisis, players can build up their “burst gauge” which can trigger powerful, board-breaking hits that will leave opponents in pieces. The innovative new “wrap-around” feature lets players move a falling piece beyond the edge of the playfield to reappear on the other side; you can even divide it into two separate gems by allowing it to drop while the two halves are straddling the border.
A variety of different modes (including Arcade, Survival, Tag-Team and Training) accentuate the battle options, while local and online multiplayer functionality give challengers the opportunity to play against friends, family members and Crystal Crisis warriors worldwide!
Crystal Crisis for Nintendo Switch will be available digitally and physically in Fall 2018 for $39.99 MSRP. Like all of the retail games that Nicalis has previously published for Nintendo Switch, the launch edition of the physical version will include a full-color instruction booklet and a yet-to-be-announced bonus collectible.
