Code Of Princess EX Begins Her Journey Today On Nintendo Switch!
SANTA ANA, California, July 31, 2018 — Nicalis, Inc. today announced that Code of Princess EX is ready for battle and releases today in digital and physical form on Nintendo Switch. Developed by Studio Saizensen, Code of Princess EX remains true to the classic action RPG, while introducing new HD graphics, a local co-op option and numerous other gameplay additions and enhancements including smarter AI, updated balancing, a new character leveling-up system and overall better playability.
Code of Princess EX features classic “hack-and-slash” gameplay where players can freely move between three different planes of action and attack enemies using a variety of powerful fighting combos, lock-on and burst systems. There are over 50 different playable characters in the game who can be leveled up throughout multiple game modes, including Campaign, Free Play and Bonus Quests.
The main storyline in Code of Princess EX focuses on Princess Solange of DeLuxia, who is thrust into the role of guardian and protector of the legendary sword DeLuxcalibur after her family’s castle is overtaken by a siege of rampaging monsters. Venturing out beyond the castle walls, she soon discovers that the monster onslaught has blanketed the entire kingdom with terror and oppression. As she fights to restore order, Solange selectively recruits a diverse team of powerful and agile combatants in an attempt to bring peace to the land.
Code of Princess EX is developed in Japan by Studio Saizensen (Blade Strangers) in collaboration with Kinu Nishimura (longtime Street Fighter artist), Tetsuhiko Kikuchi (Guardian Heroes director/character designer) and Masaki Ukyo (Guardian Heroes lead programmer). Former Capcom artist Bengus (a.k.a. Gouda Cheese) also contributed to the in-game artwork.
Published by Nicalis, the digital and physical release of Code of Princess EX is rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB and is available now on Nintendo Switch for $39.99 MSRP. The launch edition of the retail version includes the game card along with a full-color instruction booklet and a 3-inch audio CD soundtrack sampler inside the game package.

Code of Princess EX looks and plays like a long-awaited spiritual successor to Guardian Heroes, the fan-favorite beat-’em-up RPG. It pays homage to all the best elements from its inspiration (the varied cast of characters, the pseudo-medieval setting, the combat that takes place on three distinct “planes”) and expands its appeal with HD graphics, powerful combos, lock-on and “burst” attacks and a variety of local and online multiplayer modes.
