Ray’s The Dead to Resurrect Nintendo Switch in 2021!

AUSTIN, TEXAS – October 8, 2020 – Ray’s The Dead, the dark comedy, action adventure shown during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference, will shuffle onto PlayStation 4 in North America and Steam on Thursday, Oct. 22. PlayStation 4 owners in Europe will join the zombie horde in the weeks following and PlayStation 5 users can enjoy Ray’s The Dead via backwards compatibility at launch. Ragtag Studio also invites Nintendo Switch fans to solve the mystery behind Ray’s passing in 2021.

Ray LaMorte is back from the dead and sporting a more ghoulish look in the afterlife, but he can’t exactly remember how he got there. Now a zombie summoning others back from the dead, Ray embarks on a surprisingly touching journey through his troubled childhood and young adult life, uncovering the mystery of his death.

Conjure hordes of zombies to do Ray’s bidding as he deftly navigates through a strangely nostalgic 80’s suburbia, creepy howling forests, and of course graveyards. Spooky settings will not be the only thing that feels familiar. Gameplay inspired by Pikmin will have Ray ordering the undead to shield him or charge in an all-out assault on frightening foes. Fight for Ray’s (after)life as things get weird in showdowns with a mystical old man, ridiculously tricked out monster truck, soviet tanks, and other 80’s inspired bosses.

Transform fallen enemies into new undead pals and carefully balance a team of ghouls that come in all flavors. Grunts, who sport special burrowing powers, are great for puzzle solving and reaching far places, while assassin types move fast with a deadly one-hit touch. Heavy zombies act as brutish bulldozers who pave the way forward by obliterating obstacles, and dog zombies stun Ray’s foes and activate objects.

Ray’s tumultuous, but heartwarming, adventure shines with playful, cartoonish designs and richly-detailed 2D character models navigating 3D environments. Whimsical settings and synthwave-inspired tunes from Jake Kaufman (Shovel Knight) and Dale North complete a charming adventure into a beloved genre with a modern flare.

“Yes, we did make yet another zombie game, but we’re offering way more than just ‘eating brains’,” said Shawn Halwes, technical director. “We’ve got a fantastical setting full of dark comedy, moral dilemmas, a story of redemption, the incredibly weird experience that was the 80’s, thoughtful puzzles, and extreme tactical zombie action. While eating some brains in the process, of course.”

Ray’s The Dead will be available on PlayStation 4 for North America and Steam for Windows PC for USD $19.99 on October 22 and Nintendo Switch in 2021. PlayStation 4 owners in Europe will experience Ray’s The Dead just a few weeks after its North American launch. It will support English language text.

Score-attack synth nightmare TERROR SQUID is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 15th!

Oslo, Norway – October 7th, 2020 – Apt Games is proud to announce that its unholy score-attack synth nightmare TERROR SQUID will launch on the Nintendo Switch eShop and Steam on October 15th for $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99. There is no hope. There is only TERROR SQUID.

TERROR SQUID is an easy to understand but difficult to master arcade game in which every enemy projectile is emitted by you, the TERROR SQUID. Set around a doomed planet, you’re a cosmic chaos entity spinning around the world emitting all manner of hazardous projectiles. What goes around comes around, as your inky bullet reign of terror circles around the globe creating an apocalypse of your own design. TERROR SQUID obliterates genre conventions of tightly choreographed patterns, and instead puts you in the role of your own worst enemy. Think fast and strategically as you weave through a bullet hell of your own making!

Your objective is to survive for as long as possible without getting hit by your own projectiles. Survive for long enough and you can release a primordial blast of dark energy, detonating your projectiles in glorious chain reactions. Inspired by the spherical maps of Super Stardust and the short, intense action of Devil Daggers, TERROR SQUID is an endlessly addictive test of strategy and reflexes. Only the best players will manage to survive for even a minute in this unholy vector graphics apocalypse. Destroy worlds, ascend the leaderboards, and become one with the void in TERROR SQUID.

“With TERROR SQUID we wanted to make a hypnotic score-attack game that’s easy to grasp, but difficult to master,” said Creative Director Syver Lauritzsen. “We also wanted it to feel haunted, just as the best 80s arcade games infect your brain in ways both terrifying and entrancing. Become one with the TERROR SQUID.”

New HyperBrawl Tournament video introduces players to the HyperVerse!

Liverpool, United Kingdom, September 30th 2020 – Independent developer Milky Tea Studios revealed a new Introduction to the HyperVerse video, detailing the lore, heroes, and core gameplay you’ll engage in as you seek to become the greatest hero in the universe in HyperBrawl Tournament, coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 20th.

This video delves into the lore of HyperBrawl Tournament as an ancient society of druids holds a contest to seek out the champion of the universe. You’ll choose from one of three classes of heroes. There’s the Swift class, which is fast and agile, but lacks endurance; the hulking Tank class, which can take and dish out the most damage at the expense of speed; and the Core class, which represents jack-of-all-trades heroes.

Each Hero comes with their own unique arena tied to their homeworld, offering a glimpse at their history and culture. Every arena is different, offering unique shapes and obstacles that require varied strategies to adapt to. You’ll have to master the HyperCurve to change the trajectory of your shots to take full advantage of each stage’s unique layout. But don’t forget to channel the HyperForce to power up your offensive capabilities to launch your opponents out of the arena.

You’ll earn a huge host of cosmetic rewards and accolades by completing challenges. These range from conquering stages in the Campaign Mode across several difficulties, to accomplishing win streaks in the online multiplayer modes.

HyperBrawl Tournament offers an unprecedent degree of depth as you assemble a team of two heroes from three classes and arm them with unique weapons to make for an entirely unique playstyle. With 12 heroes to choose from and eight cosmic weapons to equip, there are over 4,000 unique ways to customize your characters. Play against the AI in the fully fleshed out single-player campaign, or face off against up to three other players in the quickmatch Arcade mode or the more competitive online Blitz mode, complete with its own global leaderboards.

HyperBrawl Tournament is an incredibly deep game with multiple layers of strategy and variety, but we wanted to make sure that its core gameplay is easy to understand and get right into,” said Jonathan Holmes, Founder & Studio Director of Milky Tea. “That’s why we made this video to give people an overview of how it all works in a brisk five minutes. We’re excited for people to start playing around with all the heroes, weapons, and arenas that we’ve spent years fine-tuning when HyperBrawl Tournament launches on October 20th.
