UCraft developer decides to keep game exclusive to Wii U!

For the past 7 months I have given up my life and focused all of my time, money and energy solely on completing UCraft. During this time I feel that not only have I formed a bond with UCraft but also with the entire Nintendo Community. As a result of this new found kinship I have come to the conclusion that putting UCraft on anything other than Nintendo Platforms doesn’t feel right because UCraft was originally promised exclusively for the Wii U. I am not someone who goes back on their word so with that said, UCraft is and shall remain exclusive to Nintendo Platforms. The Nintendo Community (Our community) has deserved a quality Sandbox title to call our own for quite sometime and this holiday season we will finally have it! Welcome to the World of UCraft!

As always thank you for your support and we hope you all have as much fun playing UCraft as we have had creating it!

Splatoon currently #1 on Amazon Canada’s Best Sellers List!

Nintendo has been doing some interesting marketing to help promote their upcoming release of Splatoon for the Wii U.

A couple of weekends back, Nintendo hosted a Global Test-fire event. The event consisted of 3 separate play sessions consisting of 1 hour each. This allowed Wii U owners from across the globe who downloaded a special demo of Splatoon to compete against eachother online.

It appears this has gone over quite well because Splatoon is currently ranked #1 on Amazon Canada’s Best Sellers list. Nintendo is also planning to host another Global Test-fire this upcoming Saturday for players to give the game another run before it launches on May 29th.

Considering the game has only been on the Top 100 Best Sellers list for 11 days, hitting #1 already is quite impressive. Here’s hoping for continued success after launch as well.

UPDATE
Splatoon is also currently #1 on Amazon Japan’s Best Sellers list. With Splatoon taking the world by storm, will you be one of the many Wii U owners playing Splatoon when it comes out?

Modder converts Wii U console into a Wii U laptop!

Hey guys,

I’m finally getting around to making a finished projects thread for my Wii U Laptop, thanks to a little push by Progmetalman.

Specs:

17″ 1080p screen from a Dell XPS M1730
Fully Functioning Wii U all in one unit
Driver board from NJYtouch
Built in power regulator
Stereo audio
1080p picture
Built in Sensor

This is a pretty cool project! The modder just needs to install a powerful battery now to use it while on a plane or somewhere without a power outlet.

Turn your Raspberry Pi into a 3DS Homepass Relay Station!

Some games for the Nintendo 3DS utilize / require Streetpass functionality to get the most enjoyment out of them. Unfortunately not everyone is in a position to actually utilize the Streetpass ability due to some people living in an area where there is no local Nintendo Hotspot available to them.

One of the ways to get streetpass visitors over the past couple of years has been to setup a Home Relay Station using a router capable of having custom software added to it. You would then clone your MAC address to one that another person also used for their Home Relay Station. Nintendo would think that you are near the same router that also has the same MAC address and would send you Streetpass data from random people who’s connected through that same MAC address in the past.

Now there is another way to setup a Home Relay Station. A software developer by the name of Matthew Hsu has released a program called PiPass, allowing you to turn your Raspberry Pi into a Nintendo Homepass Relay Station. The program is currently being hosted by GitHub and can be downloaded by visiting this link.

Amazon UK drops price of their MK8 Bundle for Wii U to £209.00!

It appears Amazon UK has dropped their Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle price to £209.00. Sources say the old price was approximately ~£229.00.

This is a pretty decent price considering the Super Mario U + Luigi U bundle is £229.85 and the Wind Waker bundle is £249.89.

The big decision is really the cost of those games by themselves. Wind Waker sells for £42.99 and Mario Kart 8 sells for £38.00.

Based on those numbers, the MK8 bundle is definitely the most cost-effective purchase at this point in time!

UPDATE

Amazon UK has reversed the MK8 bundle back to £229.00. This is still a good deal compared to the Wind Waker bundle.

Splatoon Global Testfire is back for another round on May 23rd!

Nintendo will deliver another round of the Splatoon Global Testfire next week, the company announced on Twitter today. If you missed out on the first few hours that the Testfire had to offer, now is the perfect time to jump in before Splatoon launches on May 29th!

Round 2 of Splatoon Global Testfire is taking place on May 23rd, and again lasts for just one hour. From 3 to 4pm PT (6 to 7pm EST), players can experience Splatoon’s 4-on-4 Turf War mode on the demo’s two maps, using a variety of four weapon sets to aggressively annihilate foes and paint the map with their blood… sorry, I meant using your ink! That roller has gotten to me, it seems. If you haven’t played the Testfire yet, or if you’ll be missing out this time as well, you can check out Nintendo Treehouse’s hands-on time with the game to get an idea of what you will be getting into later this month.

Nintendo’s answer to third-person shooters, Splatoon is an absolute contrast to what we expect from that type of game. A colorful, Nickelodeon-style squid-based ink shooter, Splatoon is a refreshing take on a seemingly stagnant genre. But what else can we expect? We’ll find out on May 29th when Splatoon officially launches for Wii U.
