Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue Delayed until 2022 for Nintendo Switch!

Gothenburg, Sweden – December 1st, 2021 – Ahead of Thunderful Publishing & Dejima’s release of roguelite indie firefighter Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue on PC December 14th, Dejima has released a new developer commentary offering a deep dive into the title’s core mechanics and its compelling gameplay.

In order to ensure that the game meets Thunderful and Dejima’s quality standards, the console version of Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue has been delayed, releasing for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms in 2022. Firegirl will launch as planned on PC this December 14th, delivering stunning 2.5D meets pixel art visuals, thrilling fire rescues, and an engaging roguelite structure that will keep you hacking and splashing for hours.

Firegirl: Hack ’n Splash Rescue is a roguelite platformer where you take on the role of a young female fire rescue officer breathing new life into her rundown local fire station. Armed with your trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose that also doubles as a jetpack, respond to emergency calls that bring you to dangerous procedurally generated blazes across the city. When Firegirl arrives on the scene, she has 3 minutes to save all the civilians caught in the blaze! Extinguish fire monsters to buy more time in these tricky missions where you will feel the heat as you battle to get the job done. Uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city, in a mystery that goes all the way to the top!

Between high-octane missions where you will be boosting your jumps with your hose, extinguishing dastardly pyro-monsters, and rescuing trapped civilians (and cats!), you can hang out at the Firehouse. Here, you can upgrade your equipment and hire new staff to make you more effective in tackling the challenging blazes to come. You’ll need all the help you can get to survive in this fun, thrilling and tricky roguelite!

“We’re of course disappointed that we have to delay Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue’s release on consoles, but it’s important to us to deliver a quality title to console players and delaying those versions until 2022 is what we had to do to achieve that,” said Julien Ribassin, founder of Dejima. “We’re really excited to be releasing the game on PC on December 14th and hope players will enjoy checking out our latest developer commentary for a sneak peak at what’s coming, look forward to another video soon!”

Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue Begins Dec 14th on Nintendo Switch!

Gothenburg, Sweden – October 1st, 2021 – Thunderful Publishing & Dejima are thrilled to reveal that hotly anticipated indie firefighting game Fire Girl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue will be coming to PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4  and PlayStation 5 on December 14th. Ahead of release, players will be able to see what it feels like to wield Firegirl’s trusty axe and high-powered hose first-hand during Steam’s Next Fest event between October 1st – October 7th, where a playable Firegirl demo will be available.

Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue has you take on the role of a new female fire rescue officer breathing life into a rundown local fire station. Responding to procedurally generated blazes across the city, you are called into action to try and save all the civilians (and cats!) caught in the fires in a nail-baiting 3-minute time limit. Extra time can be earned by extinguishing dastardly pyro-monsters as you chop your way through obstacles and use your hose as an improvised jetpack to boost your jump and reach otherwise inaccessible places.

Blending beautiful retro-inspired pixel art with 3D visuals that draw on the power of modern machines, Firegirl will take you on a thrilling trip across a diverse array of (burning) locations, including dense forests, lavish hotels, high-speed trains and multi-storey apartment blocks. You’ll also get to hang out at the Firehouse between missions to upgrade equipment and hire new staff to better prepare yourself for the blazing challenges ahead. As if Firegirl hasn’t already got enough on her hotplate, there’s also the question of what’s behind the spate of fires ravaging the city.

“I’m so excited for players to finally be able to get their hands on Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue on December 14th,” said Julian Ribassin, founder of Dejima. “The response to the game has been incredible so far and I’m really looking forward to introducing even more players to Firegirl via the new demo that will be available as part of Steam’s Next Fest between October 1st – 7th.”

Golf-Like Adventure Cursed to Golf Revealed for Nintendo Switch!

Golfenburg, Sweden – August 30th, 2021 – Thunderful Publishing & independent developer Chuhai Labs are excited to announce Cursed to Golf, a roguelike golf adventure that tasks the player with ridding themselves of an ancient curse and making it out of Golf Purgatory to become a Golfing Legend. With its beau-tee-ful pixel art, hole-some story and innovative gameplay, Cursed to Golf is a real hole-in-one.

You play as The Cursed Golfer, trapped in Golf Purgatory after a lightning strike stops you in your tracks just as you are going to take the winning putt in an acclaimed golf tournament! Unfortunately there are no mulligans in life, so to lift the curse and ascend back to the land of the living, you’ll need to play through the 18 dungeon-like holes Golf Purgatory, a feat only possible for a true Golfing Legend. Divided into 4 distinct biomes, each area of the course is governed by a ghostly Legendary Caddie, who will aid you on your quest for redemption and revival. Are you up to par with the mythical challenges of Golf Purgatory…? Will you ever be able to reclaim your corporeal form…? Will you be crowned a Golfing Legend…? Or will you forever be… Cursed to Golf!?

Cursed to Golf offers a fresh take on the golfing and roguelike subgenres. Played like a golfinated turn-based 2D side scrolling puzzle platformer, attempt to survive each hole by reaching the flag within the PAR Count; a designated amount of swings you have to reach the end. If the PAR Count reaches zero you’ll get sucked through a purgatorial vortex back to the beginning of the course. While classic golf obstacles like the water hazards and bunkers will make an appearance, you’ll also come across high powered fans, spikes, vines, TNT boxes, teleporters and a whole load more variables that can be a help or a hindrance on your way to the hole. It’s all par for the course in this twisted take on the classic game!

With all those devious traps and pitfalls you’ll definitely need a helping hand. Use Birdie-Eye to catch a view of the Hole and see what trials lie ahead. PAR Count running low? Luckily,  gold and silver Shot Idols are peppered throughout the holes, smashing through them with a cinematic flourish will replenish your shots. Every pro player also has an ace up their sleeve, and in this game you have a whole deck! Ace Cards will turn the odds back in your favour, offering you otherworldly powers to manipulate the game in incredible ways. Rewind time with a Mulligan, shoot a triple ball Scattershot, slow down time and redirect the ball with a U-Turn or control the ball in mid-air at high speed with a Rocketball. With over 20 Ace Cards in your arsenal, look forward to some un-fore-gettable gameplay moments.

Cursed to Golf offers players a new experience every time they step out onto the course. Offering the surprise of a roguelike challenge and the precision of traditional handmade level design. Chuhai Labs have created over 80+ holes of unique and varying challenge, that are randomly-ordered to make up a new challenging course every time you jump in.

“It’s incredible to finally reveal Cursed to Golf to the world. I got so much feedback and support from the original concept on itch.io that I wanted to go all out and create the ultimate version of that initial idea,” said Liam Edwards, Game Director at Chuhai Labs. “I can’t wait to see how people react to the game when it’s in their hands. I can confidently say that it’s the best roguelike golf adventure set in Golf Purgatory that you’ll play in 2022 — by par!”

Cursed to Golf will launch in 2022 for Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
