Ikaruga Takes To The Skies Today On Nintendo Switch!

SANTA ANA, California, May 29, 2018 — Nicalis, Inc. has announced the official release of Ikaruga, available digitally worldwide on Nintendo Switch starting today. This legendary and critically acclaimed vertical shooter from renowned Japanese game developer Treasure offers something special for both nostalgic fans and modern players.

The gameplay in Ikaruga is centered around the ship’s polarity-switching mechanic, which lets players toggle between two energy polarities (black or white) at any time with the touch of a button. Bullets that are the same color as the ship can be absorbed, while the opposite color will do damage. As the amount of absorbed bullets increases, so does the player’s homing laser attack which can deal huge damage to enemy ships.

Ikaruga on Nintendo Switch features both single-player and two-player (local) cooperative modes, as well as global leaderboards that can be accessed online for tracking high scores. The game can be enjoyed in the traditional horizontal mode on Nintendo Switch, or flipped vertically for arcade-style “TATE” mode action.

Ikaruga for Nintendo Switch is rated “E10+” by the ESRB and is available now at the Nintendo eShop for $14.99 MSRP.

The Adventures of Elena Temple; a Hidden Gem on Nintendo Switch!

The Adventures of Elena Temple is a monochromatic puzzle platformer made to look as if it were created in the 80s. Overcome obstacles, figure out how to collect all the coins, find all the gems and remember your childhood while doing it! Progress through the game’s dungeon through non-linear exploration and keep an open eye for secrets to find.

Features:

  • A dungeon of 50+ rooms to overcome, each its own mini-level
  • Open exploration, choose which way to go, but don’t worry, a helpful map is just one button press away
  • Challenging, old-school platforming
  • Collect as many coins as you want, but we both know you want them all
  • Coins will make you rich, but there’s no escaping the dungeon without all the gems
  • Secret scrolls to find for the more observant player
  • Best of all, play the game on a selection of 7 virtual old machines, from the Pomo D’or 4, to Maple and Some Toy and all the way to the NS-Bos PC

I had a lot of fun playing through this title. With the 7 color modes, you can think of it as a different game each time. There’s a lot of coins to find, along with some gems and secret scrolls. The game looks simple, but I ended up dying quite often throughout my journey inside the temple.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun platformer that isn’t too insane compared to Celeste or Super Meat Boy. I’ve included my play-through of the game above for those interested in seeing some footage.

20XX Blasts July 10th On To Nintendo Switch!

BOSTON – May 23, 2018 – 20XX, the roguelike action platformer from Batterystaple Games and Fire Hose Games, wall jumps to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on July 10, 2018 followed by Xbox One on July 11, 2018.

In 20XX, players will dash, jump, and blast their way through procedurally-built stages made to test their grasp on controls and situational awareness rather than memorization or trial and error.

Available now via Steam, where it has sold more than 100,000 units, 20XX was named one of Valve’s Top Early Access Graduates in 2017. The console release of 20XX will be bundled with the “Hawk DLC Pack,” which features a third playable character with a distinct whip-like attack that allows her to steal energy from enemies and power-up five unique special abilities.

“20XX is a marriage of classic action platformer gameplay with modern roguelike design,” said Chris King, founder, Batterystaple Games. “The project has been such an incredible success for our team on PC and we can’t wait to bring console players into the fold when it launches in July.”

20XX supports English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese language options.

Bloodstained – Curse of the Moon Comes to Light May 24th on Nintendo Switch!

Code Of Princess EX Hacks And Slashes Its Way Onto Nintendo Switch On July 31st!

SANTA ANA, California, May 17, 2018 — Nicalis, Inc. today confirmed that Code of Princess EX is making its final preparations for battle and will release digitally and physically across North America and Europe on July 31, 2018 on Nintendo SwitchTM.

Code of Princess EX looks and plays like a long-awaited spiritual successor to Guardian Heroes, the fan-favorite beat-’em-up RPG. It pays homage to all the best elements from its inspiration (the varied cast of characters, the pseudo-medieval setting, the combat that takes place on three distinct “planes”) and expands its appeal with HD graphics, powerful combos, lock-on and “burst” attacks and a variety of local and online multiplayer modes.

The main storyline in Code of Princess EX focuses on Princess Solange of DeLuxia, who is thrust into the role of guardian and protector of the legendary sword DeLuxcalibur after her family’s castle is overtaken by a siege of rampaging monsters. Venturing out beyond the castle walls, she soon discovers that the monster onslaught has blanketed the entire kingdom with terror and oppression.

As she fights to restore order, Solange selectively recruits a diverse team of powerful and agile combatants in an attempt to bring peace to the land. By the end of their journey, players will have accumulated a cast of over 50 different playable characters, each of whom can be leveled up to enhance their abilities in six different categories.

Code of Princess EX was developed in Japan by Studio Saizensen (Blade Strangers) in collaboration with Kinu Nishimura (longtime Street Fighter artist), Tetsuhiko Kikuchi (Guardian Heroes director/character designer) and Masaki Ukyo (Guardian Heroes lead programmer). Former Capcom artist Bengus (a.k.a. Gouda Cheese) also contributed to the in-game artwork.

Published by Nicalis, the upcoming digital and physical release of Code of Princess EX is rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB and will be available on July 31, 2018 on Nintendo Switch for $39.99 MSRP. The launch edition of the retail version will include a full-color instruction booklet and a 3-inch audio CD soundtrack sampler inside the game package.
