Microids Unveils a Gameplay Video for Blacksad: Under the Skin!

Paris – October 28, 2019 – Microids, Pendulo Studios and YS Interactive are delighted to unveil gameplay footage for Blacksad: Under the Skin. Discover the incredible film-noir mood and the variety of gameplay mechanics in this exciting 25 minute video.

In Blacksad: Under the Skin, questioning suspects and searching for clues is just the beginning! Check-out the full list of game features below.

Game features

Investigation phases and deduction
As the story progresses, players will be able to explore the game areas (with more or less freedom depending on the situation), in order to find clues and question potential witnesses.  Blacksad must analyze the clues gathered to draw conclusions. This deduction system enables players to link up various elements (clues, observations, etc.) in order to come up with theories and open up new leads. If the association work matches up, the detective will come to a conclusion. If the deduction fails, the clues will remain available for a new attempt.

Multiple choice dialogue
Dialogue scenes offer players the chance to move the conversation in different directions. They will need to choose the options they think will be the most useful to their investigation. These choices will decide Blacksad’s development and relationships, as well as future opportunities. Players will have the option to remain silent during certain exchanges, directly affecting his profile, unique to each player.

Cat senses
Being a cat gives Blacksad several significant advantages. His sharp feline senses like his vision, smell and hearing will help analyze certain situations with more depth. By doing so, players will be able to identify previously inaccessible details.

Quick Time Events
QTEs can be related to various actions or action scenes and must be completed in order to progress through the game (all failed attempts will have to be replayed). Players will face two types of QTE: pressing a given button at the right time or filling a bar by repeatedly pressing a button.

The story

The 50s, New York City: Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, is found dead. Meanwhile, rising star Bobby Yale, due to take to the ring for the most important fight of his career, has mysteriously disappeared. Sonia Dunn, Joe’s daughter, takes over the gym and must deal with its financial woes. She hires private detective John Blacksad to investigate Yale’s disappearance. The highly anticipated boxing match of the year is drawing closer and the club’s finances would not survive a no show from Bobby Yale. During its investigation, John Blacksad will find himself swimming with sharks in a universe where corruption is everywhere.

Action Platformer EarthNight Drops Dec 3rd on Nintendo Switch!

PHILADELPHIA – Oct. 28, 2019 – EarthNight, the hand-drawn action platformer set during the dragon apocalypse and featured in Nintendo’s Indie World presentation earlier this year, makes the jump to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam for Windows PC and Mac on Dec. 3, 2019.

Cleaversoft‘s console and PC debut casts Stanley and Sydney as humanity’s last hope. Ever since dragons overtook Earth, mankind has lived in exile on space colonies orbiting the planet. Despite being faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, the unlikely duo—a sword-wielding freelance photographer and a young student blessed with ethereal superpowers—take it upon themselves to reclaim their home by skydiving through Earth’s atmosphere and striking back against the monsters below.

The two heroes approach their dragon-slaying mission with drastically different tactics. Stanley’s powerful legs allow him to make both high jumps and long leaps, while Sydney favors agility by making use of an air dash and double jump ability. Both heroes wield their bespoke skills to overcome hostile environments and push towards the vulnerable heads of their scaled serpentine foes.

Each EarthNight level features procedurally-generated dragons with multiple exits and secrets rewarding exploration. Slaying dragons grants Sydney and Stanley rewards like dragon eggs and other mysterious objects that unlock powerful upgrades. With the right tools, the duo can topple even the toughest opponents while moving through stages at breakneck speeds.

Boasting more than 10,000-plus frames of painstakingly-crafted animation, EarthNight’s hand-drawn visuals come from Paul “Mathattan” Davey. Paul “Chipocrite” Weinstein composed the title’s rocking soundtrack, infusing chiptunes created on Gameboy Hardware with real modern instrumentation. The OST is now available on Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Spotify.

“EarthNight represents seven years of hard work from a collective of talented artists and the final product is something we’re immensely proud to share with everyone,” said Rich Siegel, founder of Cleaversoft. “We hope that Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam players are as excited to hurtle back to Earth and slay dragons as we are to watch them.”

EarthNight launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam for Windows PC and Mac on Dec. 3, 2019 for $14.99 / €13.99 / £12.59 / $21.00 AUD. The game is currently available via the Apple Arcade subscription service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.

Doors Will Be Kicked on Nintendo Switch Starting October 28th!

Bucharest, October 24, 2019 – Get ready to kick in some doors, because today KillHouse Games are thrilled to launch Door Kickers: Action Squad on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4! Door Kickers Action Squad will launch on Nintendo Switch October 28th, 2019!

‘’Action Squad is the game that you get when you mix our top down strategy title Door Kickers with an old school side scroller circa 1980-1990. Think Golden Axe, Dangerous Dave, Green Berets, but don’t think for one second we’re stuck in the past – we make games for the modern player and add our own ideas to the mix. And we’ve always meant the game to be played as informal as possible – easy to pickup, hard slash fun to master but also inviting to play at any time and in any context: Alone, with a friend online or a friend on your couch.

Obviously, there’s nothing more couch friendly and informal than playing on your console, and we’ve always known the game is headed there. The full Action Squad experience plus extra content and coolness we’ve added in the meantime is now available on PS4, XBox One and the Nintendo Switch.” says Dan Dimitrescu, game designer of the game series and bearer of the “I’ve seen Tape Loading Errors you wouldn’t believe” stare. No words of a Spectrum ZX version so far.

Door Kickers: Action Squad makes you think both tactically and strategically as you send your SWAT-like team to kick down the doors, blast the bad guys and rescue hostages in explosive Single Player and Co-op Multiplayer – with Couch play included. Launched in late 2018 on the PC and co-developed with PixelShard Labs, the game brings the full experience to consoles while also adding one new chapter with 12 new levels (The Slums) and a fun new playable character (the Off-Duty Guy). The new chapter and character will be available on PC as a free-for-all-players upgrade.

Robert Kirkman’s Thief of Thieves: Season One announced for Nintendo Switch!

Los Angeles, October 23, 2019 – Rival Games, the critically acclaimed developer behind Alien: Blackout, and multiplatform entertainment company Skybound Entertainment are happy to announce that Thief of Thieves: Season One arrives on the eShop for Nintendo Switch on November 12th for $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99. Thief of Thieves: Season One lets users play as burglar Celia using stealth, social engineering and assistance from your team to pull off some high profile heists across the world. Originally divided into four volumes and released separately on Steam and Xbox One, the entire anthology will be available at launch.

Based on the award winning comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Thief of Thieves: Season One tells the story of Celia, the protege of master thief Conrad “Redmond” Paulson, as she joins a new team of criminals and advances from apprentice to master. For every heist you must plan with your team, sneak your way in, react to any obstacles you face, and escape using stealth and cunning – after all, violence is what separates thieves from thugs. Get to know your team and choose your approach on the field. But be careful: the choices you make shape the narrative and may have drastic consequences.

Thief of Thieves: Season One is developed by the Finnish independent studio Rival Games in partnership with Skybound Entertainment. The story transitions between comic frames and gameplay, as Celia makes her way through scenes ranging from cocktail parties to construction yards by using her skills in social engineering and stealth. The unique visual style of 2D hand drawn comics and 3D environments combine into one seamlessly flowing story experience. Shawn Martinbrough, the artist behind the Thief of Thieves: Season One comic, provided concepts behind many of the new living breathing characters brought to life by such voice actors like Fryda Wolff (Mass Effect: Andromeda), Stephen Stanton (Rogue One), Emily O’Brien (Death Stranding), Cissy Jones (Firewatch, The Walking Dead: Season 1), Fred Tatasciore (Kung-Fu Panda 2), and Elias Toufexis (Deus Ex: Human Revolution).

“It was a completely new experience working on an already established IP but the creative freedom that Skybound gave allowed us to create something brand new and exciting for Thief of Thieves,” said Jukka Laakso, CEO of Rival Games. “We’re excited to introduce this iteration of Celia’s story to fans old and new.”
