Severed Steel ‘Rogue Steel’ Update Arrives on Nintendo Switch!
11 JANUARY, 2023 – An update for Severed Steel, the intense movement shooter developed by Greylock Studios, has now been rolled out for all console versions – Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
The ‘Rogue Steel’ update, which first launched for the PC version in October last year, brings various new features, including a new game mode, new levels, and new weapons. In addition, the Switch, PS4, and PS5 versions have also been updated to support gyro controls.
The full list of new features included with the Rogue Steel update:
- New game mode, Rogue Steel
- Gyro controls (Switch, PS4, PS5)
- 23 new Firefight mutators unlocked through Rogue Steel
- 6 new weapons
- 5 new modified enemy types
- 8 new exclusive Rogue Steel levels
- New Cannon Mode: Cutting Beam
- 10 Character skins to unlock in Rogue Mode
- 15 Cannon skins to unlock in Rogue Mode
The new Rogue Steel mode features rogue-lite elements and challenges players to complete a run across a number of randomly chosen levels. At the end of each level, players choose a card, which applies an upgrade or effect for the rest of their run. While most cards provide a buff, some increase the score multiplier but at the expense of a negative status effect.

Severed Steel ‘Update Trailer’ Showcases Post-Launch Content!
09 DECEMBER, 2021 – Severed Steel publisher Digerati has released a new trailer to showcase some of the new content that has been added to the stylish FPS since its launch on PC earlier in the year.
Two recent major updates from Severed Steel developer Greylock Studio have delivered a New Game + mode, two additional arm cannons (Gravity Gun and Impact Driver), level playlists in Firefight mode, enhanced explosion effects, and many other tweaks and improvements. In addition to the extra in-game content, new Steam Achievements, trading cards and community items have also been added since Severed Steel‘s release.
More content is planned for Q1 2022, and will include new and extended Campaign levels. There will also be further improvements to Severed Steel‘s level editor, which the community has already used to create some incredible original maps, as well as homages to genre classics Counter-Strike (Dust II) and Perfect Dark (Grid).
Severed Steel has been well received by reviewers, and currently has ratings of 76 and 80 on Metacritic and OpenCritic respectively. Steam overall user ratings are 93% positive, while the most recent user reviews are 96% positive, giving it an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating for the last 30 days.
“I’m thrilled with the response to Severed Steel’s launch. Having been a gamer my whole life it is a trip to be on the other side,“ says the game’s director and developer, Matt Larrabee. “The response from the community has been great, particularly the custom levels made through the editor. One level editor from the community has been brought onboard the dev team to help make a campaign extension, coming soon!”
Console owners will also get the chance to experience Severed Steel‘s intense, acrobatic gunplay action when it arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch early next year.
