Letterbox by POWGI Arrives Oct 13th on Nintendo Switch!
October 11th, 2022 – Lightwood Games is thrilled to announce details of their latest word game, Letterbox by POWGI.
Letterbox is a game of anagrams and logical reasoning. The letters from a nine-letter word must be rearranged and placed into the middle of a 5×5 grid so that it forms six five-letter words. There’s just one correct answer that spells valid English words in all directions.
Letterbox by POWGI features 120 unique puzzles and, as always, the puzzles are hand-crafted and checked to ensure a pleasant and satisfying solving experience.
In typical POWGI style, the “reward” for solving each puzzle is a terrible “dad joke”.
The game will be released on Tuesday 11th October on PlayStation, Thursday 13th October on Switch and Friday 14th October on Xbox.

Sixty Words by POWGI Launching June 30th on Nintendo Switch!
Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games is thrilled to announce details of their latest word game, Sixty Words by POWGI.
It’s a much-requested (and slightly larger) follow-up to 2019’s Fifty Words by POWGI.
This is a unique type of word search puzzle: there’s no grid, no wrong letters and no list of words to find. Each puzzle just contains 60 intertwined words, connected by a theme.
As players discover the words, they paint them with a rainbow of vibrant highlights to create a unique, often stunning, result.
It’s less challenging than many of our word puzzles, designed to aid mindfulness and spark creativity, through a relaxing experience of word exploration in a sea of colour.
Some puzzles are shaped and some simply sprawl, but the end result each time is a piece of colour-blended art, created individually by the player.
The game will be released on Tuesday 28th June on PlayStation, Thursday 30th June on Switch and Friday 1st July on Xbox.

Wordbreaker by POWGI Launches March 17th on Nintendo Switch!
Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games has announced the release of the latest word puzzle game in their popular “by POWGI” series.
Wordbreaker by POWGI is released on Tuesday 15th March on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5; on Wednesday 16th March on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; and on Thursday 17th March on Nintendo Switch.
Wordbreaker is a code-breaking puzzle using letters, inspired by Mastermind, Lingo and – of course more recently – Wordle.
Players choose a five-letter word and are told how many letters in that word match the target word. They then refine their choice – always choosing a valid English word – until they have enough information to deduce the correct word.
Wordbreaker by POWGI has 120 puzzles to solve, with 120 of our trademark bad jokes as a “reward” for solving them.
It is priced at $7.99 / GBP £6.49 / €7.99 and rated ESRB E for Everyone / PEGI 3.
Cross-generation upgrades are included, so PlayStation 4 owners will receive an entitlement to the PS5 version and Xbox One owners will be able to play on Series X|S at no extra cost.

Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games has announced the release of their latest word puzzle game for home consoles.
Gaps by POWGI is released on Tuesday 20th July on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5; on Wednesday 21st July on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; and on Thursday 22nd April on Nintendo Switch.
A number of five-letter words are presented with one letter missing in each. Players must add a letter to make valid English words, in such a way that the letters added, in sequence, also spell an additional valid word.
Each puzzle can have thousands of permutations, but there is only one solution! With so many possibilities to consider, finding the answer is always satisfying.
As usual, the reward for each Gaps puzzle solved is an unapologetically bad “dad joke” – a piece of pun-tastic wordplay, related to the puzzle’s solution.
Ladders by POWGI is priced at $7.99 / GBP £6.49 / €7.99.
Cross-generation upgrades are included, so PlayStation 4 owners will receive an entitlement to the PS5 version and Xbox One owners will be able to play on Series X|S at no extra cost.

Roundout by POWGI Arrives Dec 21st on Nintendo Switch!
Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games is thrilled to announce the release of a new word puzzle game, the fourteenth instalment of the popular “by POWGI” series.
Roundout by POWGI is out on Tuesday 15th December on PlayStation, followed by Xbox on Wednesday 16th and Nintendo Switch on Monday 21st. Roundout is a mash-up of two other puzzles, Word Wheel and Kriss Kross.
A twist on a traditional letter scrambling puzzle, this game places the words you find into a crossword-style grid. The more overlapping words you find, the more clues you get towards discovering the remaining words.
Anagram puzzles are often open-ended, challenging you to “find as many words as you can”. By contrast, Roundout provides satisfaction by giving players a clearly defined – and achievable – goal to work towards.
Each puzzle is generated from the letters in an 8-letter word, making it quick and intuitive to play with a controller stick. Nintendo Switch also supports touch screen play in handheld mode.
Roundout by POWGI contains 120 puzzles to solve, with a terrible “dad joke” to make you groan each time you solve one. It is priced at $7.99 / GBP £6.49 / €7.99 and rated ESRB E / PEGI 3.
It’s a casual puzzler in Lightwood’s usual no-fluff style, intended to get your brain ticking in moments between more intense gaming sessions, Roundout by POWGI has also been tested and confirmed to work on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

An Epic Word Search puzzle is a giant scrolling monster of a word search, with around 1,500 words hidden in a massive grid of more than 14,000 letters.

This new collection is rated PEGI 3 and ESRB E for Everyone, and contains four puzzles:

Crypto by POWGI Begins May 21st on Nintendo Switch!
Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games is thrilled to announce the release of their latest word puzzle game, based on a classic code-breaking puzzle.
Crypto by POWGI is out today on PlayStation 4 and will be released on the Nintendo eShop for Switch on Thursday, 21st May.
In a cryptogram puzzle, every letter of the alphabet has been switched for a different letter to present a scrambled message. Using logic and reasoning, players can decipher the encoded text to reveal a funny or inspirational quote.
A good starting point is to look for apostrophes in the text, as they are frequently followed by a letter ’S’. Single-letter words are ‘A’ or ‘I’, and double letters in words often provide useful information.
Crypto by POWGI contains 180 cryptograms to solve and is priced at $7.99 / GBP £6.49 / €7.99.
The PlayStation Vita version of this game has been delayed by circumstances beyond our control. However, cross-buy entitlement is included so players purchasing the game on PS4 now will be able to download the Vita version at no extra cost once it is available.
Players who complete the game will be rewarded with a platinum trophy.

Just a Phrase by POWGI Out Now on Nintendo Switch!
Staffordshire, UK – Lightwood Games is thrilled to announce the release of their latest word puzzle game, Just a Phrase by POWGI.
The game is already available on the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS Vita and will launch on the Nintendo eShop for Switch later today.
Just a Phrase is a deduction game based on the classic pen-and-paper game, hangman, but this variation has a twist inspired by the pun-oriented wordplay that is typically found in the POWGI series of games.
One word in each phrase has been changed to a homophone – a word that sounds the same, but is spelled differently. For example, when the phrase “right on the money” becomes “write on the money”, it takes on a totally new meaning.
While the phrase will still sound familiar when read aloud, this simple change makes it much more challenging to deduce when choosing only one letter at a time. The puzzles usually produce a moment of revelation, when you solve a phrase by revealing both something familiar, and something unexpected!
Phrases range from the surreal (like ”making both ends meat”) to those that invite you to imagine the setup for the punchline to a terrible dad joke (like “holy owned subsidiary”).
