Retro Roguelike Shmup Jetboard Joust Arrives May 18th on Nintendo Switch!

BATH, England – April 19, 2021 – Jetboard Joust, a joyous fusion of classic arcade shoot-’em-ups and modern roguelikes from publisher Freedom Games and developer BitBull, blasts onto Nintendo SwitchTM on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. In keeping with Jetboard Joust’s old-school lineage, the game will also be available on the upcoming Atari VCS on May 18, 2021.

Jetboard Joust’s handheld debut comes three decades after the release of its predecessor, Skateboard Joust for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC microcomputers. Experience an action-packed mashup of old-school arcade action with modern roguelike design by patrolling the skies for alien invaders on a rocket-powered jetboard.

Maintain altitude to avoid incoming fire while trading laser blasts with extraterrestrial invaders. Wield a wide variety of weapons and rescue the planet’s would-be abductees from a monstrous fate. Overcome throngs of foes by turning the jetboard into a screen-clearing ballistic missile capable of wiping out advancing armadas, mutated creatures, and massive bosses.

Plunder gold coins in each procedurally-generated stage to purchase powerful upgrades, such as new armor, an expanded armory, and a range of jetboard tuneups that allow the hero to dominate the skies. Advance through the campaign, choosing branching paths after completing each world before squaring up against massive, multi-stage boss fights on the road to victory.

“When I developed the original Skateboard Joust as a kid in 1989, I never would have imagined one of my games would be available on a Nintendo console,” said James Closs, founder, Bitbull. “So I am over the moon to be launching Jetboard Joust for Nintendo Switch on May 18!”

Jetboard Joust debuts on Nintendo Switch and Atari VCS May 18, 2021 for $9.99 USD. It supports English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) language options. Jetboard Joust is also out now on Steam for PC and Mac.

Godstrike Unleashes Boss Rush Bullet Hell Today on Nintendo Switch!

MADRID – April 15, 2021 – Godstrike, the boss rush bullet-hell shooter where time is everything from publisher Freedom Games and developer OverPowered Team, is now available on Nintendo Switch and Steam for Windows PC.

In a realm where remnants of a fallen divine power spend eternity fighting amongst one another, hope for the future is a thing of the past. Until the forgotten splinter of divinity, Talaal, emerges from obscurity with its Herald Yissia to stand against Talaal’s siblings and their eternal war.

Harness Talaal’s unfathomable powers and duel against twisted creatures and strange beings in multi-staged boss battles. Move quickly and strike true as the Herald Yissia, weaving through incoming enemy fire while blasting back and unleashing god-granted powers to alter the flow of each battle. Make every second of each battle count — because in Godstrike, time functions as Yissia’s health bar and currency.

With each hit taken, Yissia and Talaal lose health and valuable seconds off the clock, making trading blows a dangerous proposition. And to complicate matters, each skill used drains the clock and the duo’s health, adding additional depth to each battle’s ballet of bullets. Outfit the Herald with an ever-expanding roster of skills and abilities in the form of blessings and occult boons that expand their powers at a cost.

Overcome Talaal’s trials in the Campaign Mode, where new skill unlocks are earned by defeating other Heralds. Combine skills and abilities to create surprising synergies that turn Yissia into a whirling force of destruction. Fire off True Shot, a curving homing attack with the bullet-clearing Astral Shield to strike foes without consequence. Experiment with the Herald’s myriad abilities to defeat Talaal’s wicked siblings.

Master Heraldic powers in Arcade Mode where every ability is already unlocked or attempt to overcome the ultimate ordeal in a Challenge Mode with randomized boss orders and strange new blessings earned from each fight. Outplay the Godstrike community by taking on Daily Challenge runs with wickedly randomized modifiers or broadcast your journey to slay the Heralds on Twitch, with full-featured chat integration that allows viewers to impact the action by voting on status effects and more.

“Like Talaal and Yissia, we’ve been watching the clock with each passing day,” said Pablo Monroy, Art Director, OverPowered Team. “We are thrilled to bring Godstrike to Nintendo Switch and Steam today!”

Godstrike is now available on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC for $14.99 with an additional 20% launch discount on both platforms. The game includes full gamepad functionality as well as support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese language options.

Boss Rush Bullet Hell Shooter Godstrike Races April 15th to Nintendo Switch!

MADRID – March 15, 2021 – Godstrike, the boss rush bullet-hell shooter where time is everything from publisher Freedom Games and developer OverPowered Team, races to Nintendo Switch and Steam for Windows PC on Thursday, April 15, 2021, as revealed during The MIX’s Game Dev Direct showcase.

Centuries after a divine power divided itself between seven mysterious masks, chaos reigns. Now inhabiting vessels called Heralds, these seven entities spend eternity fighting each other as the world decays around them. That is, all but one. Talaal, the forgotten seventh mask, and its new Herald Yissia stand alone. Only together can they stop their siblings’ apocalyptic war.

Don the mask of Talaal and duel against devilish monstrosities in multi-stage boss battles with breakneck speed. Go in guns blazing, weaving through oncoming fire, and unleashing a torrent of heavenly abilities to overcome adversaries as quickly as possible. Time is of the essence, because in Godstrike as the seconds count down, so too does our hero’s health bar.

Time is both life and a currency. Talaal and Yissia lose valuable seconds needed to complete their mission for every hit they take. So the pair must make calculated moves before each showdown, shuffling between an ever-expanding stockpile of skills to help defend against their foes’ strengths while taking advantage of weaknesses.

Every second counts in the fight against the Heralds, but running out of time is never the end. Progress through the Campaign Mode, unlocking and setting skills with each Herald defeated while Talaal’s tale unfolds. Experiment with more than 20 skills like Spark, a flashy move making the seventh mask impervious to harm while inflicting damage of its own upon contact. Mix and match powers, experimenting with synergies and strategies, on the road to victory.

Utilize every ability in the arsenal in Arcade Mode or dare to take on the celestial beasts in Challenge mode with randomized boss orders and mysterious blessings bestowed after each fight. Strive to become the champion in Daily Challenge runs, devious randomized crusades that shift and change every 24 hours. For those feeling social, built-in Twitch features allow livestream viewers to impact the action, deciding battles’ status effects by popular vote.

“In Godstrike, time is your greatest asset and most dreaded enemy,” said Pablo Monroy, Art Director, OverPowered Team. “And like Talaal, we’re anxiously counting the seconds until our heavenly bullet-hell shooter hits Nintendo Switch and Steam on April 15!”

Godstrike launches on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam on April 15, 2021, for $14.99 with an additional 20% launch discount on both platforms. The game also includes full gamepad functionality as well as support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese language options.
