Golfenburg, Sweden – August 18th – Thunderful and Chuhai Labs are delighted to see their heavily anticipated ‘Golf-Like’, Cursed to Golf, drive its way onto PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch today. Cursed to Golf is a genre-twisting 2D roguelite golfer that features outlandish special abilities, diverse biomes, challenging bosses and a soundtrack that slaps harder than any heard in a golf game before.

“We’re so excited that people are finally being let loose on our dungeon-like course today on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC,” said Chuhai Labs’ Game Director Liam Edwards. “Best of luck beating my scores on the online leaderboard!”

Step into the (golf) shoes of a would-be golf champion who tragically dies just as he’s about to win a tournament. Instead of making it to heaven (or hell), you find yourself in Golf Purgatory. If you can golf your way through the ever-changing 18 hole course spread across four biomes (Purgatory, The Oasis, The Caverns and Hell), you’ll be able to ascend back to life. Prepare for dungeon-like holes, often with multiple paths to the flag, littered with Grave Grabbers, deadly spikes, explosive TNT boxes and all manner of other traps and hazards.

Fear not, cursed golfer. For all the hazards that stand in your path, consider Chuhai Labs your friendly caddy, handing you a host of helpful tools to give you a chance of overcoming them. Shot Idols are a blessing from the golf god, awarding you extra shots for smashing through them, teleporters will take you closer to the flag, even TNT boxes can sometimes hide shortcuts, should you detonate them properly! On top of that, ACE CARDS offer you awesome single-use abilities that you could never use in real life. Rewind time with a Mulligan, freeze water with the Ice Ball, guide your ball to its target with the Rocket Ball, get out of sticky situations with a Portal and blast your ball into three with the Scattershot. These are just a few of the over 20 power ups you’ll have access to.

In between holes, you’ll be able to drive around the map in your Golf Cart. You might discover some treasure chests, card packs, or come across a totally-not-shady-at-all guy who will meet you at forks in the road and help you choose a path to take. It’s always a good idea to stop by the Eterni-Tee shop to buy card booster packs, switch up your outfit, or store a few special cards in your binder so they can survive in between runs.

In addition to the previously announced PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions, Cursed to Golf will also arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on the same day. Golfenburg, Sweden – March 24th, 2022 – Players can finally tee-off in Thunderful and Chuhai Labs’  heavily anticipated ‘Golf-Like’, Cursed to Golf, when it comes to PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One this summer. Cursed to Golf’s release window was revealed today at the Future Games Show, as part of the Virtual Showfloor segment of the presentation.

After featuring in multiple “2022 most anticipated” lists from leading games media, players can now see what all the excitement is about for themselves: a free limited-time demo for the game is available on Steam from now until March 27th at 8pm CET. The demo will give players a feel of how Cursed to Golf’s compelling ‘Golf-Like’ loop works, let them try the kinds of outlandish trickshots that only exist in Golf Purgatory and offer a taste of a retro-inspired soundtrack that, quite frankly, slaps hard. For the truly skilled corporeal golfers out there, The Scotsman boss fight lies at the end of the demo, beating him is the first true test of Golf Purgatory, good luck!

“With the heartening enthusiasm surrounding Cursed to Golf, we’re really excited to be moving towards release in Summer 2022 and finally being able to let people play it. Well, actually, we decided we’d let people play it now – hence this limited-time free demo on Steam!” said Game Director Liam Edwards. “Enjoy the first biome of Golf Purgatory, there’s some tricky holes and you’ll even have the opportunity to play against the first boss. In Cursed to Golf, you take on the role of the Cursed Golfer, trapped in Golf Purgatory after a lightning strike stops you dead in your tracks. To ascend back to the land of the living, you’ll need to play through 18 dungeon-like holes. These hellish holes feature teleporters, TNT, high-powered fans and other challenges that will put your skills to the ultimate test in a ‘Golf-Like’ loop that will see you golf, die and golf again. That’s not to mention the bosses that you will have to defeat if you want to remove your curse and escape your fate.

You can get a helping hand on your quest in the form of Ace Cards. These cards give you access to world-bending trick shots, allowing you to stop time, readjust shots in mid-air, freeze otherwise hazardous bodies of water and more. These cards are not only a hell of a lot of fun to use, but will be vital if you are to beat all 18 holes within the PAR counter and avoid your curse returning you to the start and forcing you to golf your way back again.

Golfenburg, Sweden – August 30th, 2021 – Thunderful Publishing & independent developer Chuhai Labs are excited to announce Cursed to Golf, a roguelike golf adventure that tasks the player with ridding themselves of an ancient curse and making it out of Golf Purgatory to become a Golfing Legend. With its beau-tee-ful pixel art, hole-some story and innovative gameplay, Cursed to Golf is a real hole-in-one.

You play as The Cursed Golfer, trapped in Golf Purgatory after a lightning strike stops you in your tracks just as you are going to take the winning putt in an acclaimed golf tournament! Unfortunately there are no mulligans in life, so to lift the curse and ascend back to the land of the living, you’ll need to play through the 18 dungeon-like holes Golf Purgatory, a feat only possible for a true Golfing Legend. Divided into 4 distinct biomes, each area of the course is governed by a ghostly Legendary Caddie, who will aid you on your quest for redemption and revival. Are you up to par with the mythical challenges of Golf Purgatory…? Will you ever be able to reclaim your corporeal form…? Will you be crowned a Golfing Legend…? Or will you forever be… Cursed to Golf!?

Cursed to Golf offers a fresh take on the golfing and roguelike subgenres. Played like a golfinated turn-based 2D side scrolling puzzle platformer, attempt to survive each hole by reaching the flag within the PAR Count; a designated amount of swings you have to reach the end. If the PAR Count reaches zero you’ll get sucked through a purgatorial vortex back to the beginning of the course. While classic golf obstacles like the water hazards and bunkers will make an appearance, you’ll also come across high powered fans, spikes, vines, TNT boxes, teleporters and a whole load more variables that can be a help or a hindrance on your way to the hole. It’s all par for the course in this twisted take on the classic game!

With all those devious traps and pitfalls you’ll definitely need a helping hand. Use Birdie-Eye to catch a view of the Hole and see what trials lie ahead. PAR Count running low? Luckily,  gold and silver Shot Idols are peppered throughout the holes, smashing through them with a cinematic flourish will replenish your shots. Every pro player also has an ace up their sleeve, and in this game you have a whole deck! Ace Cards will turn the odds back in your favour, offering you otherworldly powers to manipulate the game in incredible ways. Rewind time with a Mulligan, shoot a triple ball Scattershot, slow down time and redirect the ball with a U-Turn or control the ball in mid-air at high speed with a Rocketball. With over 20 Ace Cards in your arsenal, look forward to some un-fore-gettable gameplay moments.

Cursed to Golf offers players a new experience every time they step out onto the course. Offering the surprise of a roguelike challenge and the precision of traditional handmade level design. Chuhai Labs have created over 80+ holes of unique and varying challenge, that are randomly-ordered to make up a new challenging course every time you jump in.
