No Place for Bravery’s War-Scarred World Arrives Q4 2021 on Nintendo Switch!

BRASÍLIA, BRAZIL – June 19, 2021 – No Place For Bravery, the story-driven action-RPG from Glitch Factory and Ysbryd Games exploring the lengths a parent would go to find their child, launches Q4 2021 on Nintendo Switch and Steam for PC.

The corpses of giants tower over battlefields colored by blood in Dewr, a Nordic-inspired world long marred by war. In camps and villages amidst the ruins of civilization, people struggle to rebuild and reconnect. Thorn, an ex-soldier carrying the weight of a thousand sins, prepares to hang up his sword forever until a chance appears to save his family.

Feel the weight of sword, shield, and guilt once more on a journey to find Thorn’s long-lost daughter Leaf and uncover the truth of her disappearance. Aided by Phid, Thorn’s foster son, walk the path to redemption through a devastated high-fantasy world that chews up hope and demands the hardest choices.

Channel the bloody memories of past battles to slash, block, and parry in fast-paced, demanding combat. Stand up to unrelenting foes and titanic bosses who hit hardest after an ill-timed dodge or depleted stamina. Dash out of danger’s way and redirect the flow of combat in Thorn’s favor, or adjust difficulty options to leisurely enjoy the narrative.

A painstakingly detailed pixel art world bears down on Thorn while the melancholic soundtrack of ancient struggle judges his every decision. Inspired by the real-world experiences of the development team and their own parenthood, No Place for Bravery examines the role of parents and the consequences of their choices on their children.

“The actions of parents resonate long after the fact,” said Matheus Queiroz, developer at Glitch Factory. “No one ever truly knows how to raise a child in an unpredictable, unforgiving world. Mistakes will happen and we must live with them. This story—and our own journey creating it—is an expression of that.”

No Place For Bravery launches Q4 2021 on Nintendo Switch and Steam for PC for $19.99, with support for English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese text at launch.

SINGAPORE – May 9, 2019 – Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, the tactical RPG from Ysbryd Games and Witching Hour Studios, launches on Nintendo Switch today.

Masquerada is fully voiced by experienced talents including Jennifer Hale of Mass Effect, Mortal Kombat 11, and DuckTales; Matt Mercer of Kingdom Hearts III, Critical Role, and Attack on Titan fame; and Ashly Burch of Horizon Zero Dawn, Borderlands 2, and Stephen Universe.

Cicero Gavar searches for a missing friend in Ombre, a fantastical city inspired by Renaissance-era Venice and brought to life in a rich, vibrant hand-drawn art style. As Cicero and his companions navigate a society steeped in class inequality, they must wield the four elements in devastating combos and crush their foes together in real-time combat with tactical pause.

Five years of civil war have rocked this city-state and claimed more than human casualties. Numerous Mascherines, mysterious masks that grant magical powers, have been lost to the destruction. Cicero’s party will discover how their pasts are entwined with not only the war, but with the history of those ancient masks and the ruins of civilization on which their home is built.

“Masquerada’s heroes and lore are riveting, engaging, and rife with complexity,” says Nicholas Chan, writer for Masquerada: Songs and Shadows. “Their individual stories weave together with the chronicles of the land in which they live and fight, building a more personal narrative that doesn’t just focus on the conflict, but on the people who carry the burden of that strife on their shoulders.”

It’s 207X in Glitch City, a city boasting unparalleled technological advancements. However, residents suffer the effects of unethical nanomachine experiments and a corrupt government. To escape this sad reality, residents seek solace through android lovers, supersonic drone racing, or the bottom of a boozy glass.

VA-11 HALL-A mixes alcohol with a dash of simple syrup and a hefty pour of point-and-click adventures: characters react to drinks served, with customers’ level of inebriation affecting the flow of the story. Serving drinks that suit patrons’ tastes gets Jill tips to pay her bills, but dissatisfied patrons may leave her to drown in her own sorrows.

Set the tone for the adventure by curating infectious electronic synthpop playlists for the jukebox. A dark, pixelated anime art style frames the laidback experience, adding to VA-11 HALL-A’s immersive atmosphere.

“We wanted the bar itself to be as memorable as the colorful cast of cyberpunk characters, a place where hope exists amid a daily struggle,” said Christopher “Kiririn51” Ortiz, co-founder, Sukeban Games. “VA-11 HALL-A serves a narrative-driven experience about steering intimate conversations with strangers, so it was important to give it the right vibe.”

VA-11 HALL-A Serves Drinks May 2nd on Nintendo Switch!

CARACAS, VENEZUELA – April 8, 2019 – VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action, the booze em’up about waifus, technology, and post-dystopia life which has sold more than 300,000 copies on Steam, will regale bartenders with more drunken stories on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 when publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Sukeban Games start pouring drinks on May 2.

Ysbryd Games and Sukeban Games will partner with Limited Run Games to produce physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, as well as a special Collector’s Edition boxset for Nintendo Switch. Further details on these physical editions will be announced later this year.

In a cyberpunk future, capitalist forces drive the corrupt government of Glitch City, a place known for both rapid advancements in technology and a disregard for the ethical quandaries of nanomachine experiments on the general public. Enter VA-11 HALL-A: a hole-in-the-wall dive bar providing solace for lonely souls facing the brutality of daily dystopia.

Bartender Jill listens to everyone’s tales while mixing drinks for strangers and regulars alike. Engage in lively conversations with a humanoid robot popstar, the editor-in-chief of a prominent magazine, a boy-crazy hacker and others to unveil the society of Glitch City as seen through the eyes of its citizens. Jill pours libations, but her patrons pour out their souls.

VA-11 HALL-A puts a shaken-not-stirred spin on point-and-click games with mixology: characters react differently depending on the drinks served and how much alcohol they’ve had. Learn more about Glitch City through the lens of a resident doing her best to maintain a somewhat ordinary life in an extraordinary metropolis.

Enhance the atmosphere of this futuristic experience by curating different electronic playlists on the jukebox to listen throughout the night. Infectious synthpop, ambient electronic music and a dark pixelated anime art style frame the gloomy but laid back experience.

“We wanted players to feel a sense of humanity in VA-11 HALL-A,” said Christopher “Kiririn51” Ortiz, co-founder, Sukeban Games. “Oftentimes we get so stuck staring at screens that we forget what it means to be human. Jill gets to hear all sorts of stories every night, from crazy to serious, and every single one of them is equally important to each teller. This influences the direction players take with the drinks they serve, making it a story-driven experience that’s personal to the player.”

VA-11 HALL-A will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 for the regular price of $14.99 USD and is currently available on Steam and PS Vita. It will support English and Japanese at launch with other localizations to be added to all versions later.

It’s spring of ‘99 and Alex just returned home from college as a graduate. When a cat steals his grocery list, it starts him on the longest and weirdest journey of his life: women vanishing from elevators, beings made of light, and enemies ranging from smiley faces on springs to giant pandas armed to the teeth are just a few of the unusual things he encounters on his quest.

Join Alex and friends as they explore surreal dungeons filled with puzzles and traps, crash evil parties, peel back the layers of conspiracy and engage in combat based on minigames.

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG features more than 30 hours of content including a fully-voiced main story campaign with voice actors whose previous works include Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea 5, Attack on Titan and more. The simple textures and saturated color scheme enhance the supernatural quality of the environments and characters present in this insane adventure.

The soundtrack, featuring compositions from Undertale creator Toby Fox and Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana, is as distinctive as the game itself, including an electroacoustic fusion of jazz, funk, traditional JRPG-style tunes and swing.

“YIIK is an eclectic mix of ideas and crazy audiovisual stimulation inspired by a time when the internet was new and people were only just learning about the strangeness of the world around them,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “Today it’s easy to find details on just about anything, but back in 1999, the internet offered up more questions than answers. YIIK explores the what-could-be that existed before Snopes.”

After witnessing a woman vanish from an elevator, college graduate Alex embarks on an adventure to rescue her, which spirals into an epic quest with stakes higher than he could have ever imagined. Alex’s search for the woman and the truth behind her disappearance lead him and his companions on a journey rife with mystery and danger.

Traverse dungeons littered with puzzles, traps and bizarre monsters with a party whose members can be swapped out mid-battle on the fly in a combat system that blends twitchy minigames with turn-based combat. Brandish records, cameras, musical instruments and more against enemies ranging from floating, yammering skulls to tortoise samurais.

YIIK has more than 30 hours of content including a fully-voiced main story campaign featuring talents such as Chris Niosi (Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea 5), Clifford Chapin (Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Attack on Titan, RWBY) and more.

Polygonal rendering, lack of textures and a rich, saturated color scheme lend to the dreamlike, otherworldly qualities of the environments and their inhabitants. The soundtrack – including contributions from composers such as Toby Fox (Undertale) and Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana) – is as eclectic as the gameplay, featuring an electroacoustic fusion of jazz, funk, traditional JRPG-style tunes and swing.

“YIIK is an unusual mix of almost hallucinatory imagery and cross-genre gameplay,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “These elements will draw the player deep into a bizarre, dreamlike world as Alex pursues his quest for answers. But what truths will he discover? How many layers does the onion have?”
