Accessible Fighter Fantasy Strike Combos to Switch in July!

EMERYVILLE, Calif. – June 27, 2019 – Fantasy Strike, the fighting game from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix lead designer David Sirlin, punches its way out of Steam Early Access and onto Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac, and Linux on July 25, 2019.

The secret to how Fantasy Strike works as both a deep tournament game for hardcore genre fans as well as an introduction to the genre for newcomers is that both ends of the spectrum benefit from the game’s extreme emphasis on strategy over difficult controls. Both types of players can enjoy its innovations in making fighting games more readable and understandable than ever before, which help everyone make the most informed strategy decisions they can.

These innovations include a unique feature never seen in any fighting game before: a visual display of “frame advantage.” These graphical effects communicate which player will recover first after every hit and in how much time. Fantasy Strike also goes the extra mile to get everyone thinking strategically by including, inside the game itself, in-depth tutorial videos for all ten characters narrated by game director David Sirlin.

Fantasy Strike offers: an Arcade Mode with illustrated narrative bookends, a Boss Rush Mode that allows players draft their own deck of powerups against progressively powerful opponents, and Ranked Mode with built-on-the-fly tournaments and 3-on-3 team battles designed to offer a variety of matchups while removing the concepts of counter-picks. It also includes four Survival modes, a once-per-day Daily Challenge Mode, and, of course, local and online Versus featuring best-in-class GGPO networking technology for a fast and responsive online experience.

“Online play is so important to fighting games that we’re trying to push the genre forward here,” said David Sirlin, game director, Fantasy Strike. “Part of that is on our technical implementation of networking which somehow allows me, in California, to play my friend in Tokyo and have it feel totally responsive and smooth. The other part is modernizing the genre conventions for user interface so it’s just a single click to challenge a friend online and a single click to watch any friend’s match. Come try it out with us on July 25.”

Fantasy Strike will be available for $29.99 USD / €32.99 / £28.99 / $46.99 AUD with support for English, French, Spanish, Norwegian, and Japanese language options at launch.

Bring Order to a Chaotic World in SolSeraph For Nintendo Switch on July 10th!

IRVINE, Calif. – June 26, 2019 – SolSeraph, the latest title from developer ACE Team (Rock of AgesZeno Clash), descends onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for PC on July 10, 2019, for $14.99! SolSeraph puts you in the wing-tipped shoes of an almighty divinity who is tasked with rebuilding civilization while protecting the people from the constant threat of mythical demons and monsters!

In the Beginning, There Was Only Chaos…

…Until one day, when Sky Father and Earth Mother drove the Chaos away and made the world. They made the stars and the sun and the waters and the land. And then they made plants and animals, and finally, their favorite creation: humankind. When they were done, Sky Father and Earth Mother left the world, so it could grow freely on its own.

But the Younger Gods were arrogant and cruel, so they tormented humankind with fires, storms, and floods, until all the tribes were scattered across the land, struggling for survival. But Helios, Knight of Dawn, the child of god and man, has come to humanity’s aid.

SolSeraph Features:

  • Restore Humanity Back to Prosperity–Balancing side-scrolling action and top-down strategy elements, carefully guide each tribe from the clouds above in order to help expand their territory and dispel the dark fog that shrouds their lands. Once each of the creatures’ lairs have been exposed, you must take the role of Helios to fight the monsters head on.
  • Take the Fight to the Enemy–Armed with his sword, shield, and magical archery, Helios will need to confront a range of enemies including goblins, beastmen, bat riders, and more on his way to facing the Younger God that controls them. Defeating these challenging foes will grant Helios new magical powers such as healing herbs and ice shards.
  • Protect the Homeland–Help each tribe determine how to shape their village by utilizing a range of different units, from houses and farms to support the growing population, to building warrior barracks and archer towers to defend themselves against the waves of monster attacks.
  • Help from the Highest Powers–Yuzo Koshiro, the legend behind many classic video game soundtracks, has composed the opening theme to SolSeraph. Additionally, acclaimed writer Jonas Kyrazes (The Talos PrincipleThe Sea Will Claim Everything) has lent his talents to craft the game’s compelling narrative.

SolSeraph will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for PC on July 10 for $14.99 (with commensurate European pricing). For more information, be sure to visit the official website.

Exception is a combat platformer set inside an elderly woman’s computer overrun by totalitarian malware. Featuring good ol’ run/jump/attack controls, Exception reinvents traditional platforming through a unique transformation mechanic where levels rotate and move, opening up new and exciting gameplay elements.

“As a hardcore NES nerd, I feel inspired by games like Ninja-Gaiden and Castelvania and feel like simplicity is the key to a great gaming experience,” said Will Traxler, Founder of Traxmaster Software. “Exception has this old school vibe with a modern rotating twist that takes advantage of today’s 3D technology. It’s a game which is easy to pick up and play and will bring joy for a novice gamer just as much as it will for a professional speedrunner.”

An old woman’s computer has been taken over by ‘Titan’, a totalitarian virus set to destroy the operating system. Players take on the role of a hero who must vanquish the malicious invader that is crippling the system before it crashes. Using easy controls, traverse through timed byte-sized levels, overcome various obstacles and enemies as quickly as possible to secure a place on one of the online leaderboards catered to different playstyles. Whether the player chooses an evasion tactic or straight up combat, Exception’s classic platforming experience features an innovative level shifting mechanic, which spices up the gameplay and reveals secret pathways and collectables. Combining two-dimensional action with a three-dimensional world, Exception offers a fresh take on the classic platforming experience.

Everything in the world of Geodia is tied together by Sparklite… it’s the life force of the planet, and the inhabitants have learned how to channel it for their own gain. The blue, glowing ore can be harnessed providing a low-level, rechargeable power source, or it can be consumed for a huge surge of power with grave consequences. Geodia’s self-titled “Baron” has devised a plot to mine the world’s Sparklite core to meet his own ends. Mining Sparklite in large quantities, the Baron repurposes the ore to fuel his powerful war machines, but the pollution from the consumed Sparklite is corrupting the world. Animals have turned into violent monsters, and the environment is rotting away.

The stricken land of Geodia has a natural defense in its Sparklite core. Periodically, the core causes a Disruption which rearranges the world, setting back the Baron’s efforts. Our heroine, Ada, must stop the Baron before he can obtain the core and gain the power to create a new world in which he has ultimate power. A plucky mechanic, Ada will need to use her cunning and skills to defeat the Baron’s henchmen across five distinct zones. Azuran Tales: TRIALS – Switch Gameplay Footage!

Cyber-intrigue comes to Nintendo as Mainlining launches on the Switch!

Thursday 20th June, 2019, Manchester, UK – Merge Games and Rebelephant are proud to announce that Mainlining, the point and click hacking adventure has now arrived on the Nintendo Switch!

Mainlining is an exhilarating foray into the world of cybercrime! The game mixes dark and dry humour with a gripping narrative, that will have you hooked from the very first case. Following the government’s introduction of the BLU Pill Act and the Secret Intelligence Service’s reintroduction of MI7, all online personal data is accessible by the powers that be. Mainlining questions techno-ethics and asks whether it is acceptable for an organisation to have the power to look at personal data – what if somebody else had access to that information?

Mainlining is a refreshing take on the traditional point and click adventure. The entire game takes place on the simulated desktop of the protagonist’s computer. As an MI7 operative, your primary objective is to gather evidence by hacking suspects’ computers and phones in order to facilitate their arrest, and to ensure that the courts have what they need to hand out the longest sentences possible. However, you’ll also have to make judgements on whether the case you’re working on is complete. Move in too quickly and you may miss leads linking your case to much higher profile cyber-criminals. Act too slowly and your suspect may detect you and escape. This means players will need to exercise all their cunning, judgement and skill to catch their suspects and those pulling the strings.

In excess of five hundred criminals are known to operate within your jurisdiction – where will you begin?

Mainlining is the first title from Sam Read’s Rebelephant. Having tasted success as part of the team behind indie-hit, Dream, Sam formed Rebelephant as a vehicle for him to work alongside some of the games-industry’s most creative individuals. To help bring Mainlining to life Sam recruited some award-winning talent:

  • Jared Emerson-Johnson (musician whose work includes Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones and more)
  • Jill Murray (writer behind Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and most recently Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate)
  • Dave Grey (an extraordinary pixel artist whose previous collaborations include the likes of Microsoft and HBO)

*New for Nintendo Switch*

  • Bespoke keyboard input system helps you crack the case!
  • Now includes touchscreen support for an immersive experience.

Mainlining is now available for Nintendo Switch and carries a price tag of $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99. Customers who purchase the game between today and July 4th will receive a 15% discount. Mainlining is also still available on PC via Steam, Humble Bundle, and GOG for $9.99 / €9.99 / £6.99.
