Ion Fury Frags its Way May 14th Onto Nintendo Switch!
DALLAS, TX – April 28, 2020 – Ion Fury, the old-school first-person shooter developed by Voidpoint and published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment, arrives on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 14. A physical edition will be available worldwide on June 26.
Make way for Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison as she takes down the cyber-cultist army of the sadistic Dr. Jadus Heskel, this time on consoles. Defend Neo D.C. with Shelly’s trusty triple-barreled Loverboy revolver at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and take the destruction on the road with the Nintendo Switch.
Tear through cyborg infantry, giant robots and even wendigos with eight retro-inspired weapons. Dual-wield Penetrator SMGs with incendiary ammunition to scorch foes, wreak havoc with the Disperser with either shotgun shells or swap in grenade rounds, or chuck a Clusterpuck into a room and delete everyone.
Utilizing the same Build engine behind the original Duke Nukem 3D, Ion Fury offers the beloved feel of ‘90s shooters. Seamlessly integrated modern features include headshots, environmental interaction, improved physics, auto-saves, and widescreen functionality. Ion Fury’s marriage of both styles provides both a genuine introduction to classic FPS games and a worthy addition to the genre as a whole, as evidenced by winning IndieDB’s game of the year award.
“We wanted to make sure the gory fun from the PC version felt just as great on consoles,” said Mike Nielsen, CEO of 3D Realms. “We never thought we would see the day where we could use the Build engine on modern consoles, but we think our players will enjoy the efforts of Voidpoint and General Arcade’s fantastic work.”
Ion Fury will be available for pre-order on Xbox One on May 1 at a 15% discount, taking the price down to $21.24 / €21,24 / £16,99, and on Nintendo Switch across Europe on May 7 with a 15% discount. It will be available on Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One in English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish on May 14. Ion Fury will also be available via physical release through www.ionfury.com worldwide, and retail in Europe and Australia on Nintendo Switch for €29,99/£24,99 and PlayStation 4 for €24,99/£19,99 on June 26.
The game is currently available for PC on Steam, GOG, and the 3D Realms website for $24.99 USD.

Ion Maiden is Now Ion Fury; Explodes Out of Early Access August 15th!
DALLAS, TX – JULY 11, 2019 – Ion Maiden, the old-school first-person shooter developed by Voidpoint and published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment, will release under a new title to avoid legal issues with a certain popular heavy metal band. Ion Fury fires out of Early Access and 1.0 bursts onto PC August 15, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One coming later. To celebrate, PC Big Box-style physical copies are now available for pre-order.
Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison finally has a deadly date on her calendar with Dr. Jadus Heskel and his army of cyber-cultists. With signature weapons including her Loverboy revolver and Bowling Bombs, every cyborg she sees is about four seconds away from being nothing but gibs n’ gore.
Lovingly crafted in the Build engine which powered ‘90s classics such as Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and Shadow Warrior, Ion Fury fuses nostalgic looks with today’s technology to create the ultimate shooter. Modern features like auto-saves, improved physics and map interactivity, headshots, and widescreen functionality simply weren’t possible back then, but Ion Fury brings the best of both worlds.
To celebrate the sheer madness of a modern shooter made in the Build engine, Shelly’s getting the Big Box she deserves. This edition includes a Bowling Bomb-shaped USB Drive loaded with a DRM-Free version of the game and Soundtrack, a poster, a keycard based on the ones Shelly finds in-game, a making-of booklet, a Bowling Bomb sticker set, and of course Ion Fury, all for $59.99.
Haven’t played yet, and find that trigger finger is getting itchy? The Digital edition of Ion Fury is available now on Steam Early Access in English, for $19.99. As the game has doubled in planned scope since its unveiling, the price will rise to $24.99 one week from today on July 18. Now’s the perfect time to pick it up and start blasting.
“After careful consideration, we’ve decided to rename our first-person-shooter “Ion Maiden” to “Ion Fury,” said Mike Nielsen, CEO of 3D Realms. “A lot of thought went into this, but most importantly it would be a disservice to our loyal fanbase and the fantastic developers, to drag out a long lawsuit. The amazing gameplay, interactivity and pure fun, is what makes Ion Fury a great game. Not the title.”
