The Yo-kai Invasion Continues! Yo-kai Watch 2 Launches in Canada on Sept 30th!

VANCOUVER, B.C., May 16, 2016 – The Yo-kai phenomenon continues in 2016. Canada has seen the launches of the YO-KAI WATCH video game for Nintendo 3DS, a line of Hasbro toys and games, a top-rated animated series, and the mobile game sensation YO-KAI WATCH Wibble Wobble all in the last six months. The world of Yo-kai continues to grow as new video games, toys and shows make their way to Canada this year.

All things Yo-kai continue on Sept. 30 when YO-KAI WATCH 2 launches in Canada exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Already a huge hit in Japan, the sequel to the first smash hit, which is once again developed by LEVEL-5, offers the same deep RPG gameplay and wacky adventures as the first game. The new adventure also offers many new areas to explore outside of Springdale, more than 100 new Yo-kai, a new-and-improved in-game Yo-kai Watch, and even the ability to travel back in time! YO-KAI WATCH 2 will also launch with two versions, YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls, each featuring rare Yo-kai that can only be found in their respective games.

“After being such a massive sensation in Japan, it’s great to see Canada start to embrace the mischievous and lovable Yo-kai,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “We’re excited to continue bringing fun Yo-kai experiences to Canada this year.”

To expand the Yo-kai brand, Hasbro will add new items to their YO-KAI WATCH line this fall.  New toys include the YO-KAI WATCH MODEL ZERO, designed to look like the watch worn by Nate in Season 2 of the animated series.  The watch includes YO-MOTION TECHNOLOGY that brings Yo-kai characters to life in a new way. Fans can insert a YO-MOTION YO-KAI MEDAL into the watch and see a projected animation of that character.  Hasbro will also release a new series of collectible YO-MOTION YO-KAI MEDALS which are compatible with the new watch. Additionally, fans will be able to collect and trade their favourite YO-KAI WATCH characters in a new way with the YO-KAI WATCH Trading Card Game.

Also coming for YO-KAI WATCH fans is a new season of the YO-KAI WATCH animated television show. This season, join Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan as they get the new Yo-kai Watch Model Zero. But just because he has a new watch, that doesn’t mean Nate’s life will get any easier. Season 2 has more Yo-kai, more miniseries, more episodes, and, most importantly, more laughs! Tune in to see how a whole new cast of Yo-kai interrupts Nate’s normal life in unexpected and hilarious ways. Fans who missed the first season can catch up before the second season starts by picking up the DVD of YO-KAI WATCH – Season 1 in stores late 2016 or by streaming the show on Netflix now. Fans can also catch the YO-KAI WATCH manga series from VIZ Media (Volume 5 debuts this month).

Finally, all of your favourite Yo-kai have wobbled into a hit mobile app called YO-KAI WATCH Wibble Wobble. This Top Ten app on the iTunes store brings the fun of Yo-kai characters into smart devices with a puzzle-game twist. With new events coming monthly, this game will continue to grow bigger and better.

The original YO-KAI WATCH video game introduced Canadians to the mysterious Yo-kai. In Japan, these invisible beings – not ghosts or spirits … just Yo-kai! – are steeped in folklore and based on common concerns that everyday citizens have. If a child misplaces homework or an adult can’t stop babbling at a work meeting, for instance, it’s probably the work of a troublesome Yo-kai.

Learn To Draw Dozens of Disney and Pixar Characters In Disney Art Academy!

VANCOUVER, B.C., May 12, 2016 – Calling all budding artists and Disney fans! In the Disney Art Academy, launching exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on May 13, you can use a wide variety of tools to learn to draw more than 80 Disney and Pixar characters in 2D. By setting your own pace through multiple easy-to-follow lessons, characters like Mickey Mouse, Nemo from Disney Pixar Finding Nemo, Elsa from Disney Frozen, Buzz Lightyear from Disney Pixar Toy Story and Simba from Disney The Lion King come to life on your Nintendo 3DS screen.

“Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, you will be surprised by what you can create in Disney Art Academy,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “The game uses fun lessons to teach drawing skills to artists of all ages and skill levels.”

In Disney Art Academy, Disney and Pixar characters can be sketched or painted in many different ways. Using nine art tools like pastels, paintbrushes or markers, you can discover your inner artist by participating in lessons inspired by Disney art and animation. These art lessons are absolutely intuitive and, most importantly, fun! Each lesson guides you through a step-by-step progression to draw a single character. What starts as a series of lines and shapes will gradually evolve into a familiar character using your new art skills! If you ever want to take a break, lessons can easily be saved to continue from the same spot at a later time.

You can even add some extra flair with the Magic Brush, a new addition to the Art Academy series. With the Magic Brush, magical additions like stars, bubbles, and glitter can be added to your masterpieces – all easily accessed by using the touch screen on Nintendo 3DS.

As your art skills improve and you create more and more Disney and Pixar characters, you may very well want to share your creations with others. That can easily be accomplished directly in the game by connecting to the Internet and sharing through Miiverse or social media via Image Share. Completed artwork is also saved to the Nintendo 3DS system’s SD card, allowing you to upload your creations to a personal computer and print them out. Refrigerators around the country are about to get a lot more colourful (and a lot more magical!) once families start printing their favourite drawings.

If you want to create outside the game’s numerous lessons you’re in luck, as Disney Art Academy includes a Free Paint mode that lets you draw even more characters any way you choose. In Free Paint, you can put your newly learned skills to the test by drawing on a blank canvas, or you can select from more than 80 Disney images to use as reference as you add to your virtual gallery. All completed artwork can be viewed at any time in the game’s Clubhouse, where you can also select your favourite pieces to be viewed in a personal showcase slideshow. Disney Art Academy launches on May 13, and can be purchased in stores, in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and at Nintendo.ca at a suggested retail price of $39.99. For more information about the game, visit http://artacademy.nintendo.com/disney/

The Year of Nintendo 3DS RPGs Continues with Bravely Second: End Layer!

VANCOUVER, B.C., April 13, 2016 – In 2014, the Bravely Default game introduced a new take on turn-based RPG combat with a one-of-a-kind risk-and-reward system. The unique battle system, acclaimed by critics and loved by fans, returns deeper than ever in Bravely Second: End Layer, the direct sequel to Bravely Default. Developed by SQUARE ENIX, the masters of the role-playing genre, Bravely Second: End Layer launches exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on April 15.

Players who want to try out the game before they buy it can head to Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS right now and download the free demo, titled Bravely Second: End Layer – The Ballad of the Three Cavaliers. The free demo lets players embark on a bonus adventure that is not featured in the main game. Playing the demo will net players bonuses that can transfer to the full version of the game once purchased.

Picking up a few years after the events of the last game, Bravely Second: End Layer finds returning fan-favourite characters Tiz and Edea joining up with newcomers Yew and Magnolia to rescue an old friend. Despite the return of some familiar faces, the story is completely new, thrusting players into a sprawling adventure full of dangerous enemies, gorgeous locales and 30 job classes to master.

“Fans of classic role-playing games like Fire Emblem and SQUARE ENIX’s FINAL FANTASY series will love Bravely Second: End Layer,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “And while fans of the first game will appreciate the returning characters and continuing story, newcomers can just as easily dive into this memorable RPG experience.”

When battling in Bravely Second: End Layer, players can perform actions such as attacking with a weapon, casting a spell or using an item, as well as choose between one of two distinct commands: “Brave” or “Default.” By selecting Brave, players can spend one or more Brave Points (BP) to perform an extra action. Choosing Default skips a turn, but stocks 1 BP. Characters will also take less damage while in the Default state. By stocking BP, characters can use more powerful moves and abilities on their respective turns. BP can also be “borrowed” from future turns, but if the value drops below zero, players will be at the mercy of their foes. This risk-and-reward system encourages a deeper level of strategic thinking when battling the various enemies in the game.

In addition to the fast-paced battle mechanics, the job system found in the original Bravely Default also returns, but is now more expanded and robust. In Bravely Second: End Layer, players can choose from 30 different job classes that can be assigned to and mastered by the characters in the game. These include some returning jobs like Knight, Monk and Black Mage, as well as many new job classes like Wizard and Fencer. Bravely Second: End Layer even includes jobs like Catmancer, which finds players training cats to perform abilities learned from enemies. When mastering each of the classes in the game, characters will learn special abilities that can be unleashed in battle. And by using the “Favorites” feature new to Bravely Second: End Layer, players can now save their favourite job, ability and equipment configurations for their party to easily switch between whenever they are needed.

Another new feature in Bravely Second: End Layer is the ability to chain together consecutive battles for bonus experience points. By winning a battle in a single turn, another wave of enemies will appear, giving players the chance to defeat them for more rewards. By chaining together these battles, players can earn tons of extra experience points and level up much faster.

Although the game is primarily a single-player experience, Bravely Second: End Layer takes advantage of wireless features like StreetPass to bring friends around the world into the adventure. With StreetPass or a wireless Internet connection, players can borrow job levels and abilities from friends who also own the game. They can also invite a friend into battle to attack for one move. By summoning a powerful friend, the tide of battle can quickly turn, maybe even deciding the difference between victory and defeat.

In addition to Bravely Second: End Layer, role-playing fans are in for an absolute treat this year with a wide variety of RPGs now available and coming soon for Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Games now available for Nintendo 3DS include FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS from SQUARE ENIX, Project X Zone 2 from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America, Inc. and the original Pokémon games (Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version, as well as Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition) in the Nintendo eShop. Launching June 24 for Wii U, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE lets players slay monsters – and slay like a pop star – all at the same time in a new RPG from acclaimed developer ATLUS. Also, the newest Nintendo 3DS installment in the popular Monster Hunter action RPG series from Capcom is making its way to the West this summer in Monster Hunter Generations. Finally, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past launches exclusively for Nintendo 3DS later this year.

Bravely Second: End Layer launches on April 15 and can be purchased in stores, in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and at Nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $49.99. For more information about the game, visit http://bravelysecond.nintendo.com/.
