Moonlighter Opens Shop on Nintendo Switch in November!

Moonlighter’s debut on the Nintendo Switch console has been slated for November of this year! Published by 11 bit studios, Moonlighter is an action RPG with rogue-lite elements that shines a light on the daily adventures of Will, a devoted shopkeeper who secretly dreams of becoming a hero. While the exact launch date has not been confirmed, fans can expect Moonlighter to arrive in retail stores and on the Nintendo Switch eShop this November.

About Moonlighter

Made by Digital Sun, published by 11 bit studios, and partnered with Merge Games for retail distribution, Moonlighter’s story dates back to an age of archaeological excavation where a set of mysterious Gates were uncovered by intrepid pioneers. Folks quickly realized that these ancient passages lead to different realms and dimensions – providing brave and reckless adventurers with treasures beyond measure. Rynoka, a small commercial village, was founded near the excavation site to provide refuge for adventurers and a marketplace to sell their hard-earned plunders.

Features

  • Manage a bustling shop in the heart of the commercial village of Rynoka – Catch shoplifters, control the price of goods, and hire staff to assist while you gather materials.
  • Dive into the dungeons of Rynoka – Take on themed dungeons as you hunt for good to sell in your shop. Each dungeon gets progressively harder as they are unlocked and are guarded by ancient golems who stand sentry against looters.
  • Upgrade your weapons and armor or brew potions by gathering components in perilous dungeons.
  • Exciting patches planned will keep Moonlighter fresh as you work towards growing the village of Rynoka and ensuring it prospers by attracting new adventurers to its gates!

11 bit studios Brings 4 of Their Amazing Titles to the Nintendo Switch!

August 20, 2018 — 11 bit studios, perhaps best known as the developer of the grim survival city-sim, Frostpunk and the award-winning antiwar title, This War of Mine have had a busy few years. Expanding into the world of publishing, 11 bit studios is also known for releasing Digital Sun Games’ RPG adventure gem, Moonlighter and adding onto their already impressive resume they now announce a rock-solid line-up of their titles coming to Nintendo’s massively successful Switch console. Four games, each from a different galaxy of the gaming universe, taking center stage on the Nintendo Switch;

  • This War of Mine is a gripping survival game inspired by real-life events, in which you do not play as an elite soldier but as a group of civilians merely trying to survive in a city under siege. Test your decision making skills and emotional resilience to the limits when This War of Mine launches on Nintendo Switch in November. Releasing as the Complete Edition, the game will contain every free expansion and paid DLC released so far as well as all the content to be released in the future. This War of Mine launches on Nintendo Switch in November in cooperation with Koch Media / Deep Silver.
  • Beat Cop is a retro, pixel art style adventure set in New York City and inspired by 80’s cop shows. You are Jack Kelly and you’ve been framed for murder. Now, as a regular beat cop you have to find out who set you up. Expect a thick crime story, a lot of black humor and many other seedy things you might find on the hardened streets of Brooklyn. Beat Cop launches on Nintendo Switch in Fall 2018.
  • Moonlighter, by Digital Sun Games tells a story of an adventurous shopkeeper with dreams of becoming a hero. In this action-RPG with rogue-lite elements, you’ll have to stay sharp to take care of business – not only with a sword but also quite literally, as you manage your own shop. Coming to Nintendo Switch this Fall.
  • In Children of Morta you hack and slash your way through endless hordes of enemies in this narrative-driven roguelike. Playable in either single player or co-op, experience what it means to be part of a family of heroes as they fight to defend their legacy and each other. Children of Morta comes to Nintendo Switch in early 2019.

This War of Mine and Beat Cop are being forged for the Nintendo Switch by the friendly team at Crunching Koalas. Warsaw-based, they’re excited to work alongside their friends at 11 bit studios whose offices are only a short 5 minute walk away! Moonlighter and Children of Morta are being switched to Switch by their respective devs teams. Retail distribution partner for This War of Mine is Koch Media / Deep Silver.

Big Things Coming in the Moonlighter Roadmap for 2018 (Updates! Soundtrack! Switch News!)

July 5, 2018 — Hello there, Heroes and Merchants! We here at 11 bit studios and Digital Sun believe that a good adventure always requires a little bit of old-fashioned planning and — obviously — a map! A carefully plotted path that will ultimately lead you to your goal. Is there a treasure waiting at the end of the road? Perhaps a princess or a prince? Shining, golden horse armor? You do you, we won’t judge. To aid you in your travels to the dungeons outside of Rynoka, we have prepared something very special for all of our fans, the Moonlighter Development Roadmap for 2018!

Since Moonlighter’s release, the feedback that we have received from fans has been equal parts overwhelming and also amazing! Our fans and community have some crazy good ideas and guess what — we have some as well! And you know what always works best? Cooperation! We’ve collected your feedback and we have incorporated as much of it as possible into our development plan. After many internal discussions, hours of research, and the consumption of non-alcoholic beverages (swear!) — we proudly present to you Moonlighter Development Roadmap 2018!

Excited? So are we! Let’s give you a little bit more information about each milestone from the roadmap (not everything, though – we like to keep some secrets) and this should go without saying, but all the updates you see here are going to be totally free!

ROADMAP DETAILS

  • More Stock Update — Our first update will add more than 50 new rooms distributed all over the four dungeons making a total of almost 600 room patterns available! It’s also going to improve the look of armors and enchanted items, plus we plan to add some additional help/tutorials to explain different shop upgrades better.
  • Adventure Update — New Game+ lets players start the whole game again with increased difficulty level. This update will also bring brand new Dimensional Weapons and Amulets, powerful equipment based on an unknown and mysterious technology.
  • Companion Update — Feeling lonely in the Dungeons? Worry no more! Choose a companion and bring it with you on the adventure ! Each companion will be a little bit different, offering various skill sets and looks. On top of that we’re going to introduce the Custom Game — a set of options that will allow you to to modify certain game parameters to create diverse experiences.
  • Trouble Update — Put your skills to the test by battling some brand new mini bosses! We’re not going to tell you anything more about them — because we want those enemies to surprise (and brutally defeat… muah ha ha ha) you during your adventures. Yup, we’re sadistic like that sometimes. We’re also going to add new Item Effects, boosting the game’s variety. This update should arrive sometime around Halloween — so we’re hoping to bring you some spoOOoky stuff, too!

That’s the basics, and as we said before, we don’t want to spoil everything so we can keep you on the edge of your seats while you wait for upcoming content! And yes – we have even MORE updates planned for 2019!

OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK

We absolutely love what David Fenn did with Moonlighter’s Official Soundtrack. The feeling of nostalgia, lust for adventure and unending thirst for gold – everything is there! But the best things in the world are those which we can share with others. That’s why, from now on, you can listen to Moonlighter’s OST on Spotify! If you prefer other platforms, it’s also available on Bandcamp, where you can also buy it to support David and his awesome creativity!

MEET DIGITAL SUN GAMES

Breaking news; games are not creating themselves! At least not yet. There are always people behind your favorite titles and even though we’re a bunch of super secret ninjas working from València (focused on delivering a quality game to your hands), we would like to show you our faces from time to time. Along with the folks from 11 bit studios, we’ve created a short dev diary that can give you a sneak peek on how we work. Our studios are connected like a large family and we invite you to become part of this family as well!

SWITCH VERSION

Last but not least, YES the Switch version of Moonlighter is still coming this year! Nothing has changed here. If there is anything new to announce — we are going to announce it ASAP on our channels (see the list above? Now might be a good time to give us a like/follow) — so stay tuned!
