Clockwork Aquario Holds a Guinness World Record!

Stuttgart, December 9th, 2021: ININ Games and Strictly Limited Games proudly celebrated the release of a treasure from the arcades – Clockwork Aquario last week. Along with the successful launch of this colorful retro gem, Clockwork Aquario is now being celebrated as a new holder of the Guinness World Records™ title for the longest time between a videogame project start and final release!

With the development initially started in 1991 and completed 2021, Clockwork Aquario takes over the mantle from Duke Nukem Forever that held the Guinness World Record title until now.

A story of true video game archeology

The initial development of Clockwork Aquario started in 1991. It was the last arcade game ever developed by the legendary company Westone. With the advent of 3D gaming and other genres vying for dominance, Clockwork Aquario’s development was canceled. Nearly 30 years later, ININ Games and Strictly Limited Games – two labels dedicated to preserving popular but also forgotten or never-released retro gems – joined forces to unearth this video game treasure.

A development team including members of the original Westone team such as Ryuichi Nishizawa – co-founder of Westone and creator of legendary Wonder Boy – was put together with the aim to bring Clockwork Aquario to life. With a motivated team of passionate retro game fans and the original creators of Clockwork Aquario, it was ensured that the lost arcade title gets its well deserved release, losing none of its charm, but staying true to its roots.

“[…] I would like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude to those who have worked so hard to restore Clockwork Aquario. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this work is a great piece of 2D art, where the pixel artists of that time put their hearts and souls into. I’d be happy if people would appreciate and enjoy it.” – Ryuichi Nishizawa

About the Game

Clockwork Aquario is an exciting, colorful gem of an arcade game for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It has already achieved some notable reviews that include a 9/10 from NintendoLife, along with many other great reviews and love from enthusiastic fans of the retro genre.

Dynamic movement, fun gameplay, colorful animations – Clockwork Aquario is an awesome experience for all retro and arcade game fans from back then and new players alike. The digital version of Clockwork Aquario will be available in the Nintendo eShops and PlayStation Store in North America from December 14th!

6Souls Available on Nintendo Switch!

December 3rd, 2021 – Today indie publisher Ratalaika Games and developer BUG-Studio are proud to announce that 6Souls is now available digitally on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. It’s time to help Butch and his human Jack unfurl the mystery of the Clifford Castle.

Story

Jack and his faithful dog Butch are big adventure lovers and one day come across a map in which they find details of an abandoned castle of the Clifford family, so they eagerly make their way in search of possible treasure.

It soon becomes apparent that actually getting into the castle may not be that straightforward. As they make their way to the castle’s bridge, it collapses and they have to get out of the abyss through the castle’s basement, in which they find the first soul (the soul of the palace), who asks for help.

The story in 6Souls is presented in an interesting and inventive way with its tangle of events that unwind the further you proceed. 6Souls presents 10 main chapters, with more than 80 levels in the normal game mode, and more than 120 levels in the difficult mode, complete with bosses, this delightful presentation offers many hidden surprises that draw you deeper into the story.

Game Features:

  • 8 different locations with their own unique features and challenges
  • Each location has its own characteristics
  • Forest, Castle Dungeon, Castle, library, laboratory,  etc

6Souls offers more than meets the eye with situations that unfold and challenge in a number of ways – Poisonous gas pipes in the laboratory,  gusts of wind in the balconies – which will either help the player or prevent the player from completing the levels by fighting bosses galore. There are even spiders that hang on a web from the ceiling, as well as magical bookshelves that move by themselves.

Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue Delayed until 2022 for Nintendo Switch!

Gothenburg, Sweden – December 1st, 2021 – Ahead of Thunderful Publishing & Dejima’s release of roguelite indie firefighter Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue on PC December 14th, Dejima has released a new developer commentary offering a deep dive into the title’s core mechanics and its compelling gameplay.

In order to ensure that the game meets Thunderful and Dejima’s quality standards, the console version of Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue has been delayed, releasing for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms in 2022. Firegirl will launch as planned on PC this December 14th, delivering stunning 2.5D meets pixel art visuals, thrilling fire rescues, and an engaging roguelite structure that will keep you hacking and splashing for hours.

Firegirl: Hack ’n Splash Rescue is a roguelite platformer where you take on the role of a young female fire rescue officer breathing new life into her rundown local fire station. Armed with your trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose that also doubles as a jetpack, respond to emergency calls that bring you to dangerous procedurally generated blazes across the city. When Firegirl arrives on the scene, she has 3 minutes to save all the civilians caught in the blaze! Extinguish fire monsters to buy more time in these tricky missions where you will feel the heat as you battle to get the job done. Uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city, in a mystery that goes all the way to the top!

Between high-octane missions where you will be boosting your jumps with your hose, extinguishing dastardly pyro-monsters, and rescuing trapped civilians (and cats!), you can hang out at the Firehouse. Here, you can upgrade your equipment and hire new staff to make you more effective in tackling the challenging blazes to come. You’ll need all the help you can get to survive in this fun, thrilling and tricky roguelite!

“We’re of course disappointed that we have to delay Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue’s release on consoles, but it’s important to us to deliver a quality title to console players and delaying those versions until 2022 is what we had to do to achieve that,” said Julien Ribassin, founder of Dejima. “We’re really excited to be releasing the game on PC on December 14th and hope players will enjoy checking out our latest developer commentary for a sneak peak at what’s coming, look forward to another video soon!”
