Crystal Crisis Releasing April 23rd on Nintendo Switch!

SANTA ANA, California, December 5, 2018—Nicalis, Inc. today announced that Crystal Crisis, the cute and colorful new color-matching combat game, will be released on April 23, 2019. Previously announced for Nintendo Switch, the game will now see simultaneous releases on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Nicalis also revealed plans to bring The End Is Nigh, a challenging adventure platformer, and Dungreed, an infinitely replayable 2D action game, to PS4 in 2019.

Crystal Crisis
Developed and published by Nicalis, Crystal Crisis is presented like a traditional fighting game, but instead of pressing buttons to kick and punch, competitors arrange falling crystals into matching colors to clear them from the screen and inflict attacks on their opponents. In this star-studded crossover puzzle game, players can choose from 19 different playable characters, including fan favorites from Cave StoryThe Binding of Isaac, Tezuka Productions and many other surprise entrants.

The End Is Nigh
From The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, The End Is Nigh is an action platforming game where players take control of Ash, one of the few “things” that have “survived” the “end of the world.” Follow Ash as he flops his way through a future of pain and suffering. Feel his stress levels rise as he is thrown into an endless swarm of decaying, mutant animal-like creatures before arriving at his final epic quest: to simply make a friend (out of pieces of people he finds along his journey).

Dungreed
Developed by Team Horay, Dungreed lets players assume the role of an adventurer who must explore a continuously evolving dungeon in order to prevent the town from being destroyed. The game features a variety of environments such as prisons, jungles and lava zones. Players can defeat enemies and advance through the dungeon using powerful magic items and an arsenal of weapons, ranging from rusty swords to cutting-edge sniper rifles.

About Nicalis, Inc.
Based in Southern California and founded in 2007, Nicalis, Inc. is a leading developer and publisher of highly polished, retro-inspired video games.

Malkyrs: The Interactive Card Game Brings Cards to Life on Switch in Q3 2019!

Normandy, France — Dec. 5, 2018 — Malkyrs: The Interactive Card Game, the virtual trading card game with customizable physical cards that come to life via NFC and RFID technology, launches on Nintendo Switch in Q3 2019.

After dying in battle, renowned fighters across the legendary world of Heptia find themselves resurrected on the island of Brënn. Yet this second chance comes with grave repercussions: an omnipotent goddess who relishes the thrill of combat wishes to see these warriors battle for all of eternity. There is no escape, even in death. The only way out is victory. Ascending the ranks of these champions may offer the chance to return to their past lives.

Battle through the story-based campaign replete with branching paths and multiple endings to learn the rules of the game, then challenge players locally or through online tournaments. Choose from one of 12 champions and up to 10 action cards out of 250 to form a deck, then scan them into the game to begin. Instead of shuffling and drawing each card, all cards will be available at any time in a match to allow for deeply strategic and reactive skirmishes.

Both champion and action cards will be able to earn experience and Favor respectively. These resources enable players to upgrade their cards. Champions will earn item and ability upgrade slots, so they can be customized to make the perfect deck. Powering up action cards will unlock specializations, opening up even more possibilities. Faction choices that offer new abilities will further empower players to make cards their own.

Each of the 262 playable cards will feature gorgeous art, showing off Malkyrs’ high fantasy universe. All cards will be equipped with an RFID that can be scanned using the NFC-enabled Joy-Con controllers. All levels and even the name players choose will be stored in the RFID, so trading a physical card with another player means handing over an entire journey, like swapping heroic tales over a campfire. These upgrades will work across all platforms, including the PC and Mac builds, making cross-play battles a reality.

Malkyrs’ Kickstarter, which launched Monday and funded in a few short hours, aims to bring the game to new markets, both around the world and on new platforms. With over two million PC matches already played in France, Malkyrs’ huge fanbase is ready for more competitors to join the fray.

“By listening to our players, Malkyrs is getting stronger each passing day,” said Paul Vaudandaine, co-founder of Malkyrs Studio. “The addition of the Switch audience, who we believe will love the physical-to-digital nature of our cards, can only make our game even better.”

Malkyrs: The Interactive Card Game will be available on Nintendo Switch in English and French in Q3 2019, and is available now on PC and Mac.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove Launches March 1st on Nintendo Switch!

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – December 4, 2018 – ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!, the upcoming fourth entry of the beloved, funkadelic action roguelike series from HumaNature Studios, helmed by original co-creator Greg Johnson, puts the “fun” in funky on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, March 1.

The iconic ‘90s alien duo is back. ToeJam and Earl, hoping to impress Latisha and Lewanda, have…”borrowed” the Rapmaster Rocket. One black hole-related accident later, they are back on the floating remnants of Earth, scrambling to pick up the pieces of their ship before their home planet of Funkotron notices anything missing.

Hidden throughout the procedurally-generated levels are presents with random effects that help the duo find their ship parts. Rocket skates, Icarus Wings, Boomboxes and more than 60 other presents make each run feel fresh. Characters and unlockable hats that offer awesome hidden powers persist across playthroughs so there’s more to strive for beyond getting back home.

You would think a three-legged alien in dope threads would be the weirdest thing on the planet, but Earthlings give ToeJam and Earl a run for their money. Sneak around humans like the Hula-Girl so you don’t get hypnotized into shaking your hips, leaving you vulnerable to attacks. Over 50 Earthlings ranging from King Tut, armies of chickens and Internet Trolls roam around each level, so get to know which are friends and which are foe.

Back in the Groove!’s got all the classic moments which made the series a staple of ‘90s gaming with modern improvements like online play, all in a nostalgic underground comic style.

Up to four friends can play together through online multiplayer and choose from nine characters — some blasts-from-the-past, some new and funky fresh. Each character has their own stats and special abilities. Console players can enjoy couch co-op with two players total, while PC will enable local co-op accommodating four players.

Minigames keep ToeJam and Earl on their toes. The side-scrolling HyperFunk Zone from Panic on Funkotron is back so players can earn extra presents and cash. Feeling the beat? Jump into a rhythm-based dance-off. Get ready to jam out with your homies to more than 30 groovy tunes, including classic remixes from the original games.

“ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! is what I’ve been wanting to do for the series for over 20 years,” said Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNature Studios. “We’ve included pretty much all of the original ‘old skool’ characters and presents, and we have a TRUCKLOAD of new surprises, many of them fan-inspired. I think we’ve captured the spirit of the original game, as well as a lot of what people loved about game two. I think this is what our fans have been waiting for. I can’t wait to see what they think!”

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! will be available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Latin America), and Brazilian Portuguese for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC for $19.99 USD on March 1st.
